Ignore the fact that my main build’s a Mage and go close-ranged. Usually a beam finishes them off.
You can often times easily brute force the crew, but remember to run a lot, since they will hunt you to the end of the Earth. Keep your distance.
for warrios i usually use vindicator q move, then staff q move up, then staff e move on the pirates, then saber e move on them, then vindicator e move to eradicate most of the crewmates and i deal with the quatermaster and the captain with random stuff

M1 spam works if you have high HP and you’re doing it to a lower level crew. You’d be shocked how quickly a level 125+ captain and one or two level 80s can tear through your HP, though. I can’t say I advice the tactic if you haven’t seen their levels beforehand. Yes, the crew will almost certainly do virtually no damage, but on the off chance you try it on a ship with a more powerful captain and co-captain, you may lose more HP than you anticipated.
As for me, I just destroy the crew with one or two lightning blasts, and try to stay in the air as I rain more blasts on the captain. Also, I try to keep it on their ship, as my ship being on anything less than full HP bugs me to no end.
Well. Whenever I sink a ship, whether it be an npc ship or another players ship.
I just swim onto the boat, find whoevers on the ship, and then I, without any mercy whatsoever, fucking murder them.
But who knows. Maybe theres another way.
Change the pirates and recruit them into the navy because I have no enemies 
When I’m a relatively low level magic user, I usually go to my Caravel’s crow nest and spam pillar explosion so I don’t get teared apart from the crew
Other than that, at 125, just spam AOE moves, be careful of M1 demons, abuse the crow’s nest and pillar explosion against stronger NPCs, especially Notoriety GN ships
Just use aoes to kill all of them immediately and if you get too low try to get them stuck on a ship part and snipe them from there.

fortified pirate ketches have like 3 really strong npcs and a load of crew members, so it’s harder to just run up and beat them to death

I jump on board, use explosions, and jump in the air and use blasts, beams, or fighting style attacks.
as a lightning sailor warlock, entering with smash and M1 spamming works fine since paralyse
1 centurion spamming m1s dealing 85 damage a hit like 3 times per second and 2 legionnaires doing stuff
