How do you secure kills while bounty hunting?

Title. it feels like every time I try to hunt someone, they can just run forever without any way for me to catch them.

learn kindness and never deal with this again because you leave people alone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

i mean, i almost exclusively hunt leaderboard players. All of the ones I hunt either run away or get their friends to fight me instead. if you have below like 700k renown i don’t usually hunt you

oh that’s cool.
but yeah, that’s how they keep it so high, of course!

Yeah it’s not worth it to hunt down anyone of the leaderboard unless they’re some sweat who never runs

Or you’re running some broken op build that cripples them before they understand what’s happening.

while i don’t pvp often, i’d suggest using a slowness gel or smth before you jump them, gonna be hard to run

slowness 5 only reduces dodge speed by 25%

You could probably try and use slowness III potions

I was pvping with somebody and they used slowness III supernovas which did not stack the amount of time and instead stacked the effects. I had four slowness III effects which pretty much reduced my speed to the point I’d still be within attack-hitboxes from my original position to new position with a TP dash.

The only downside is that it doesn’t stack the time it lasts so you’d only have a few seconds before one of the slowness III effects subsides and they get their speed active again.

I don’t know if this is a bug or completely intentional, this type of mechanic is new to me

Slowness stacks intensity??

I knew that most thrown potions stacked effects rather than duration but I didn’t think slowness would’ve

At the moment PvPing outside of Elysium is almost impossible due to a single issue, that being their body lags far behind where they actually are 90% of the time.

Just don’t bother, because the only way your going to deal any damage at that point is if your running a pure build or conj/warlord with 300 size.

I re-tested this just to be sure

Apparently during that fight, the slowness bugged out and the effects manage to stack the effects as well. But, when I tried it out again it didn’t. (I could’ve been seeing things as well and might’ve went slower than what slowness V has to offer during the test. But so far slowness V still seems to be pretty good for catching users as long as they aren’t mega air-stallers)

Also this just what I discovered which I never did until now;
The slowness timer does not stack with each other and they act as their own separate timer. If you applied slowness III to an enemy and gave them 50 seconds and they got down to 40 seconds and then applied slowness III again, the enemy has two seperate slowness III timers, the 40 second and 50 second and they both tick down at the same time pretty much only adding back 10+ seconds to the slowness timer so I found that interesting instead of the previous system where it just reset the timer back to 50s so tats new for me at least

does it not slow their actual walking either?

that is still 25%
they would only be at 75% of their original speed

1 of my files uses Ironskin abunch, and even T3 -15% i very much notice my decrease in speed

By reducing their health bar to 0

To add to that: “-with 300 size.” And fuck you if you’re a conjuror or warlord with a size build, learn to aim.

dont listen to what anyone here is saying, slowness is garbage and hardly works as it should (atleast last I checked)
Ironskin is a viable alternative but it’s meh. If you don’t wanna use potions, I suggest catching up with grab moves, poking with placed explosions (dont use beams unless you’re confident in your aim), and taking advantage of your range with AOEs (such as shockwave, self explosions, mirrored river, and sparrow thrust)

Don’t be impatient and start throwing out moves- always know how much endlag you’ll suffer, and how big a range the move you used has. Save your dodge reflex so you can immediately start moving after using a movement ability.
(So don’t magic jump/t-jump, reflex, and then grab. In fact, don’t even jump at all- if you’re not so laggy, you should be able to get air time from grabs alone.)

The advantage a hunter has over the hunted just boils down to air movement. You can use grabs to close distance. They can’t. So use that as much as you can.

As for if someone jumps you, at that point I suggest giving up or dying in a blaze of glory. Before full release, it was atleast possible to win a 2v1 against people with fully developed builds. Nowadays, it’s essentially instant death unless you have friends of your own. You could try to run, but if they know what they’re doing it’ll just prolong your death.

^coming from someone who was a bounty hunter pre-full release… i haven’t hunted someone in ages since then so maybe I’m wrong?
These strategies should still be viable though
