How does one attain trust level 4

This is random but I was wondering how people get this and whats the difference between this and a forum moderator?

you have to be specially chosen i think

they have some moderation abilities like splitting and merging topics, but not all of them like suspending or banning users i’m pretty sure

To become a TL4, you must perform a blood ritual that binds your soul to the forums.
Your life will be drained to keep the website up and running.

After you inevitably die after a week or two of this, you can still interact with the forums from the grave.

Oh I suppose I’ll never obtain this sacred power a blood ritual might be too much for me :pensive:

mods give me this power i am cool

You must go through the multiple Trails of Community in the Forum Temple to get the power of Moderator-but-not-really

believe me I tried.

but to do such goal must require years of discipline and experience in the forums.
smith that drains you of life, making you a no life being.

TL4s are, as other people in the thread have mentioned, chosen by the Forum’s staff. Due to how few TL4s there are (there are almost twice as many moderators as their are Leaders) and how rare it is for new ones to be promoted, it’s hard to exactly say what the criteria are for the role. According to the badge description, it’s given to users who “set a positive example for the rest of the community in their actions and words here.” That doesn’t give much insight into the criteria, but from my experience also all Leaders were, at the time of their promotion, community members that were actively involved in the forums and posted content that leaned more on the constructive/positive side rather than trolling and things of that nature.

I personally think of TL4 as being closer to TL3 than Moderator. Regulars have perms that allow them to move posts to different categories and edit topic titles; the perms that Leaders have is simply an expansion of those, allowing them to edit posts and lock/archive threads. Moderators have perms that actually allow them to moderate the forums such as the ability to mute & suspend users, view a user’s regular eligibility, delete threads, etc. So in terms of actually moderating the forums, Leaders don’t really have the ability nor responsibility to do much.

I’m slightly surprised that there’s such a lack of Leader’s to this extent since I can think of a few users that I can imagine doing a pretty good job (better than me at least since I’m not heavily into the forums currently), but I suppose there’s probably not much of a need for the role when mods already serve most of the purposes of TL4.

While I would be okay with having more leaders on board, I also don’t see much point? The forums now are a lot less active and vibrant than it was during WoM in my opinion (which was when everyone was promoted and such). I can request more leaders to be added if needed, but I really don’t see much point. Regulars and Leaders are moving topics and such accordingly, and topics and other replies are getting moderated when they need to (even if there is a few hours for it to happen).

If you are in need of moderator assistance, my Discord DM’s are always open. If I’m online, expect a somewhat speedy reply.

Someone must’ve sacrificed Deron because I haven’t seen them reacting to people.

Just checked, suspended until April 4th.

While there’s not a current need for significantly more moderation, I definitely feel like people are getting complacent with ignoring certain rules (see: the like dozen vetex pings and arguments that clearly break rule 7 in the past two months). And even if there isn’t an immediate issue, I feel like having quicker and more active moderation, even if it’s only to the extent of tl4s, is probably good for the longevity of the forums as a whole

I and a lot of us are usually okay with people pinging Vetex, but only if it is for a GOOD REASON. Same with Vetcord (when you used to be able to ping him). On top of this, I’m not really supposed to moderate people pinging Vetex, since it’s up to him if they deserve to get moderated for that. I would highly encourage anyone reading this to REALLY think about whether, what you’re pinging Vetex for, is actually important.

If there’s a lot of Rule 7 breaks happening, it needs to be flagged more (just PLEASE stop flagging EVERY SINGLE POST or I am going to kill you). And please DM me if something is urgent. I’m not going to kill you, but I don’t want to be messaged 20 times a day for forum issues. I’m on my computer quite a fair bit. I just don’t check the forums too much since nothing fun happens here anymore.

Average mod reaction to a small amount of tomfoolery (

)

Crap meant to put that in quotables

Good to know sorry for flagging you twice the other day lol

Thanks for the explanation that clears it up

so you’re saying theres still a chance…

Good to know that we can still ping vetex without being smithed if it is a Good reason

I think it would be more likely to become a moderator than a trust level four

well yea, of course vetex isn’t going to get pissed and smite you because you asked him a question about the game (that he hasn’t been asked 20 billion times in the past)

if you pay attention, when that happens its because the person pinging vetex is going out of their way to either irritate him or directly insult him.
See: Me not being banned.

honestly the fact that fridge has literally any chance of being unsuspended after all the shit he pulled shows just how lenient it actually is lol.
