While they may say press Q and F repeatedly, here is how pro players play mage according to my observation and experience:
Let’s start with blast shape. For your blast, either use the bird, drill, or fist shape. I prefer bird if you’re using a fast magic. Set it to max size since you’re new to mage
For your beam, you can choose between 2 or 1 amount. But I use 1 amount for lesser endlag. Set the beam size to 60 and explosion size to 80%
For Javelin, use 1 amount. Set the explosion size to max.
For pulsar, set the ticks to the lowest and the size to the biggest.
For the casting style, use right leg throw so the magic particles and circles won’t hinder your view.
And this is the most important part:
For leap, use to keybinds for it. The first keybind for 1 leap and the other for 5 leaps. Use this 2 keybinds for your mobility, since it is the only mobility mages have.
Always use it, as in always to make you less predictable than most mages. While they may say mages stay afar, I prefer to stay close and use these leaps to jump behind the enemies Blindspot and spam my blast and beam and javelin to them.
Of course staying close doesn’t always work, but if it is mage vs mage, staying close is the best.
Always use your water first, before using lightning. Alternate between both in each cast.
