How much 50k galleons mean in IRL money?

the kidnappers of mayor tilly say that they want the bronze legion to drop off 50k galleons at tiberia, then i thought, how much is that really is?

if irl price of today to buy a frigate is 1.28billion
fuck I pressed reply

I ruined it

anyways one galleon equal 600 dollar if brig 200k

lo
no math was involved in this

Is the price of that frigate based on modern frigates with state of the art technology, or is it based on 1800s wooden ship design and adjusted for inflation?

I wanted to do modern day frigates just to ruin the currency of the actual galleons currency
600 dollars = 1 galleons
:fire:

i can buy green apples (granny smith apples) for 7 bucks per 3 pounds at walmart, or roughly 98 cents per apple assuming an average weight on 190 grams (gonna round that to a dollar for convenience)
i can also buy a green apple for 2 galleons at sameria, for an exchange rate of roughly 1 galleon per $0.50 CAD

but this would mean a sailboat would only cost $150 CAD and a brig would cost 10k, which uhhhh doesn’t seem right

There isn’t a fixed rate so it’s basically whatever you base it off of

hitting your ship with a repair hammer once costs 3000 dollars

sounds about right

Just thought I’d remind you that boats will be comparatively cheap in the AU because they’re so necessary for doing stuff like

  • Getting food (meals are going to either be fish, fruit or fowl based for the most part)
  • Getting fresh water. Places like Redwake would rely on getting water or ice from palo town and Frostmill.
  • Idk like talking to anyone other than the couple people on the same island as you

5 cents

Right, but our apples should be comparatively cheaper, due to the relatively modern invention of widespread agribusiness and synthetic ammonia allowing for much greater yields. Apples would be much more expensive in AO, unless they’re somehow grown faster due to magic, though life and healing magic are so rare I doubt any widespread use of them could be practical. Along with yields being much lower, most islands (like Sameria) wouldn’t even have access to apples, unless they were imported from far away.
