How Strong is Ravenna, really?

I honestly think from the information we have now, Ravenna is a pretty weak Kingdom.

It has 3 towns (one of which is in poverty), only one curse that we know about, very weak fortifications and just one fort.

Its colonies are far from them and weakly guarded: Shell island only has 1 single batallion while Frostmill has none.

It has an army of just 10k soldiers, and they’re pretty weak. Their Generals are decent but not extremely powerful. Their ruler is also mid.

Their main island is (comparitively) small and not well defended.

I think Ravenna’s main strength would be politically. If they don’t have a good army but can still survive as a kingdom they have to be good at negotiation. They also do have a fair bit of influence since they control an entire sea.

I guess Nero Caesar gave his kingdom all these years of dominion by nuking Winterveil, so other kingdoms just didn’t want to attack a kingdom ruled by that madman or his descendants. Winterveil extermination prob the only reason of Ravenna’s reigh even existed

ravenna rulers are yappers so they convince everyone they’re stronger than they actually are

ravenna controls the marula market (i made this up)

Ravenna has, 2 forts (now 1), an army that we cant compare the size to, and decently strong generals. They dont need to invest much to protect their colonies as the first that falls if an invasion comes is probably them. It also should be noted that whilst they did take a cataclysmic losses during the Thorne-Ravenna war, they did in the end repel them from the Bronze Sea.

calvus wasnt really all that strong of a king
if he had gotten the death curse though, it would’ve put ravenna back into the position of an actual military power and not yaplord elite

Blasted Rock greatly shows their powers of negotiation)))

Who would win:
Kingdom with multiple colonies, a heavily defended fort with a well equipped army, a Chad General, the definiton of a glass cannon, and a level 500 savant with lost magic for a king
Or
One homeless boi

I mean it was technically 3 homeless bois, some terrorist chick they picked up, and their Vietnam veteran neighbor if you have Edward

Ravenna doesn’t seem strong at all. Their soldiers except for centurions are all very easy to kill and even centurions aren’t super strong. They only have 2 colonies and 1 fort. Shell island only has a few soldiers and Frostmill just isn’t guarded for shit (I mean seriously, Frostmill’s crime rate seems to be sky high, same with Tiberia). Their king is decently strong but still gets fucked by some random homeless guy and just yaps. And don’t get me started on Prince Revon…

Ravenna is a weak kingdom.

Placing no soldiers within it’s far away vassal states is a good strategic move. With the war seas towns Ravenna controls, none of them has significant enough of a population or decent fighters to rebel. Judging from Ravenna’s war with Thorne. Enemy armies would focus on striking at the colonies within close proximity to Ravenna or if possible strike the Ravenna heartland. The Bronze Legion placing it’s soldiers elsewhere could result in the failure to allocate enough men against an invasion.

Their generals would probably fail to deter an invasion. We’ll set the time towards the beginning of the in-game storyline for the sake of Argos’ inclusion.

General Julian is probably weaker than old generation of ravenna generals ( Zaix, Veridia ). Argos should’ve been discharged or given a sea curse at his old age, there are probably centurions which are qualified for the rank of General.

Calvus is a pathetic example of a King, we all agree

I wonder how he even got the title of high lord then

Politics, most likely. He said the order was influencing him ever since he got the crown at a young age.

But why give him the title of high lord?
There’s definely people out there that are more competent and powerful than him

His absolute political power within Ravenna and it’s colonies would be something the Order is looking for. In order for the Order to expand it’s influence throughout the War Seas it must influence influenctial individuals to carry out the Order’s interests within said individual’s territory.

All feathers but no muscules.

The only power ig they have is curse users and Nero, but that’s it.
We litteraly killed off most of the higher-ups, and only one who got us low was Julian

well, you would think that someone with nigh absoulute control over an entire sea would be given a high ranking position.

Ravenna is based on Sparta, which is objectively a very small nation filled with elite warriors, so we’re most likely going to see some insane stuff later on with WoM map size islands/continents
