It affects them. only in Insanity 1 dark sea.
Insanity 1 changes them from giant to massive, it doesn’t do anything else

Let me answer this in full.
To catch massive fish (almost every time), you can:
Use a Toughened Bronze Rod with luck 4
Or
Use a Toughened Fishmonger’s Rod with luck 3.
This will only apply to dark sea layer 2 and above.
For catching giant fish:
The best way to do it is using a graced bronze rod with luck 2 or 3.
Reason: bronze rods increases lure speed but decreases item chance, in which case this is a good thing since you want to catch fish more.
You want to have as high of a luck stat as you can as it seems like strength isn’t as good for giant fish as it is for Massive fish. As a bonus, you also fish up golden fish more regularly with it to continue having luck 2 or 3.
