I got Deepwoken for christmas

title says it all.
Do you guys have any tips? I’ve already died 12 times, and after playing for 3 hours I was level 3.

Currently my stats are:
Medium Weapon Sword
32 agility
2 strength
2 fortitude(?)
4 intelligence
4 medium weapon mastery
and last I have like 20 gale breath

im actually pretty good at running in deepwoken, thats how I am still alive, but I gained minimal EXP

  1. I highly suggest playing with friends if you can

  2. Search up builds on YouTube or make your own with Build Creator - Deepwoken Tools

  3. Always assume the worst with players and be prepared to log asap

  4. Search up how to fight every npc better safe then sorry

  5. Practice feinting to create mixups (left click then right click or right click then left click)

intelligence isnt good at all
it used to be really good but i dont think you need it unless your build relies heavily on using mantras a shit load of times
agility is fine are you going like jetstriker oath or something
fortiude doesnt give a shit load of hp and is only useful for the talents
strength gives a shit load of good talents and you can carry more
charisma isnt good unless you want the talents
same thing with willpower because layer 2 doesnt need willpower to survive longer (you’re going to die anyways)
galebreath as your first attunement is a perfectly fine choice

I agree with everything except logging when other players.
Eventually you’ll need to get better at pvp or you’ll just have an harder time later on.
It’s important to also not be afraid of dying.
Unless theres multiple dude jumping you, thats different.

  • Invest in attributes 5 at a time (Ex. Fortitude - 5, 10, 15, 20.) Talents in 1-4 don’t really matter unless you want specific scaling
  • Kinda just experiment with stuff. You’re gonna be dying a good amount like most others first few runs so try and pick a weapon you’re comfortable with and want to master.
  • Don’t feel like you’ve lost an insane amount of progress if you do wipe. If you keep learning and master the game, progression will be easy enough to where you don’t feel like it matters if you do wipe. Staying negative will demotivate you heavily and delay progress.

for some reason roblox may stay open in the background, thats why i made a batch script to kill the process instantly
dm me if you want it

First of all, spawn in isle of vigils. The chances of getting ganked there are WAYYY smaller than etris (one of the most common ganking places), you get more overall notes from talking to the guy at inn and doing the food quest, getting to the accessable part of ersia is shit easy (just go in a straight line untill you see it), and also you can start the kelsius/ weapon uncap quest at the start instead of having to go to vigils.

Another tip is abuse the fuck out of the vigil instructor while you are there. Nobody starts deepwoken cracked so you wanna learn the parry timing and master all the combat mechanics, do this until you can easily flawless the instructor.

Figure out what build are you making, looking at your stat spread it is quite hideous, no offense. A common thing that experienced players do is commit, go the stats you NEED for that build, for example if you are trying to get speed demon and only that then simply run 25 agility, it’s that simple. It may not seem that important but it will be what build or breaks your slot in endgame.

This one is kinda obvious but going to the depths or overworld to practice mob patterns is vital. You simply can just watch a youtube video explaining their patterns or see it yourself. After this you want to practice AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE on them until you get your muscle memory down. a lot of newer players tend to struggle with the issue that they are prepared to parry an attack then they for example deal with an unparryable attack such as the sharko kick.

You might want to get a friend or someone you can play with to spar with you, it goes a long way in PvP as PvE is absloutely different, no matter how good you are at PvE, PvP is still a different world in it’s own.

Join a guild. Numbers are power, if you get ganked, then spin back with your homies. Joining a good guild may also have benefits like people willing to give you stuff, info, training, or helping you progress in general

NEVER, and when i say this NEVER trust anyone. This doesn’t mean you have to start fighting or running from anyone you see, what i’m saying is always be prepared to fight when you see someone, just don’t pull out your sword or keep it out, many players see this as a threat. If you are in the depths and someone high-ish level tries to interact with you, log immediately. Chances are they are going to gank you

That is all i really have for newer players, there is a LOT more to learn but that is basically the basics of deepwoken and what you need to know to get better to be honest

that’s a great thing to know after i just spawned in Etris

i mean you can always set your spawn there via inn

dont spawn at vigils just get the money from the guy at the inn, sell the gold ring, and immediately go to the docks

etris imo is an easier place to start out but the instructor thing he said to do is useful

i got a little bit of experience with the instructor (asked him to spar a few more times before i quit), i have the basic idea down but i could use more practice

then follow what i said, if you need PvP practice, then simply get a friend to spar with, if you have none (like me), join a guild. If your guild refuses, then you can always gank randoms, don’t expect good results from that though

will do when they’re online yeah

you can also do 1v1s for pvp practice

1v1s are also there but honestly the only people you are fighting there are sweatlords that play deepwoken for like 70 hours a week, people with hilarious ABA true comboes, or the most ELITE of metamancers out there

or mfs with autoparry :moyai:

ok so i just got attacked by some npc and parried 4 times in a row i think i might be alright
they did kick my ass anyway though

eh pretty decent, but 4 in a row isn’t ideal, try fighting something and parrying 20 times in a row, the issue that some newer players struggle with when fighting humanoid NPCs is their feints and crits which throw off your timing. it’s best to learn the sound/ visual cues and decide whether you want to spec into learning how to roll or parry these types of attacks
