Lemme tell you a story.
I’m out in Elysium with some friends, and I’ve played the game a lot, but haven’t worked on PvP all that much. So, y’know, I’m just working on my build in between fights, doing really bad but that’s to be expected for someone who’s new to the PvP game AND on a laptop.

I do some fights, I don’t do very well, I’m using some agility as a Magma/Light mage, not worrying about the meta all that much, when suddenly:

I’m getting dogpiled for running and using Beam. And, okay, fair enough, I can see how that’s annoying, so I use some other moves in the mix, which decreased my performance, and I’m STILL called a Beam spammer

The worst part is, they unironically expect me to sit there and take all their damage. They dogpiled me for keeping a distance, even though I have like 50 Agility at this point they call me a runner. I was literally block parry dodging, although I wasn’t doing very good at the first two as I usually was.

The worst part is, they were defending a stun-sailor guy. Straight up throating the c–k of the unironically LEAST skilled build. And when I conceded that I sucked at the game, but you have to admit that the stun Sailor is an unskilled Blox Fruits tier stunlocker build, they ALL started dogpiling me.

This is while this lightning-sailor guy is just spamming moves on people hanging out… the server owner was on his side for some reason because when I tried to fight him, they ganked me and I was laughed at more.

So yeah, fuck these guys, I’m unfriending them. I was even seeking their tips on how to be better, and they just said ‘don’t follow the meta and play the game’, wow THANKS, I WAS DOING BOTH. They just expected me to know what to do with no experience, and ragged on me even though I was openly seeking help. I’d like some actual tips for a Magma/Light mage in the comments please.

there is no “culture” to AO pvp it’s just a bunch of sweaty losers who think they’re the best because they no-life in a Roblox game

I have some pvp friends too but they aren’t super obsessed with AO and one of em’ runs a snow savant

having been on roblox for a long while and playing all sorts of pvp games i can say that arcane is definitely up there in the toxicity tier list. its just to be expected on this game

i think its largely due to the fact pvp IS inherently toxic in this game, from bounty hunting/ganking, its all about inconveniencing everybody

so its no surprise people will be pent up with anger and rage when they lose

Anyways for future reference: If your friend group makes you the group laughingstock and make fun of you, chances are they are not your friends.

If you want to find people actually willing to help you learn I’ve seen a lot of success just messaging people seeing if they want to run munera 1v1s

thing is i wouldve been fine if they were like ‘nah nah we’re joking’ and actually tried to help me, like that would’ve actually been endearing, but yeah, i just unfriended them and kicked one who was in my clan, if they wanna reach out and apologize that’s their choice
