I have a very important lore question regarding a certain Keep…

Why the heck is Akursius Keep so small when it has been stated beforehand that it was built on the ruins of Winterveil, which I can assume it was as big as in-game current day Ravenna, if not bigger??

My best guess is that Nero completely obliterated the absolute fuck out of Winterveil as a result of the eponymous Extermination event using his Curse magic, that the island has gotten smaller. Sure, but then its said in Captain Rackham’s (RIP Rackham and his men) journal that Akursius Keep was a strong fortress that held its guard for decades, and yet in-game, it’s smaller than Fort Talos and only slightly bigger than Palo Town. Unless it really was bigger back before the gods unleashed that teal explosion onto Akursius and made it even smaller than it was before.

For a place that’s considered an actual, physical nightmare, Akursius Keep is quite small, not that it doesn’t give me a small bit of anxiety and paranoia.

I believe this could be true because the rocks around the island could possibly have been part of land that was destroyed. We only really see those type of random ahh rocks in front of the islands at Redwake and the Stepstones, which are both located in the Jaws. Another interesting detail is that Akursius Keep has no shores. it has probably been destroyed so bad it has sunken for a majority below sea level

it got exploded by nero and chaos

Because he didn’t want to build it bigger in-game I guess, it’s like how the map says Palo Town has hundreds of inhabitants but in-game only has like 9 houses. Lots of things are different between lore / the AU and your in-game experience of them.
