Personally, it’s worked wonders for me, but I wanna hear some takes.
I’m a Magma Paladin with 130 Vitality/150 Magic, I’ve used a build with near-identical stats as this
The actual build I use has marginally less speed in favor of more agility.
eh, I mean paladin builds should be similar to mage builds so you should really only focus on size or speed with a bit of agility
Well, I don’t want to be a beam spammer, nor an aimless AoE user. Having both attack speed and size lets me thrive in both melee and ranged situations. It also makes Blast a generally better close-range option, which can leave a pretty good impact on the opponent compared to Explosion. Overall I’d just say having both makes PvP a much more tactical and thus more skill-based experience.
what’s the armor? this seems like it’d be viable for my savant
Had to read that over
Lemme pull it up, also tip; you’ll probably want to use a bit more defense than I am, I don’t have much mainly because I’m a Paladin and I’m balancing the amount of HP I have with the amount of Drawback damage I take. (Plus the Intensity is mainly for Aura, if you don’t have it.)
My Gear Builder data got wiped by Safari Private Mode so I’ll send it tomorrow when I can hop on AO again. (I don’t wanna do it over again :V) The gist of it is drowned magmancer, paired with an atlantean SI helmet and atlantean calvus cape
If you don’t wanna go for the meta you can always be like me and focus only on power and defense, though if you’re using a slow magic you might be forced to use size or speed. Also regeneration is getting a rework to actually be useful so you can run that as well. Still you’re not gonna get much out of splitting your substats evenly
I still respectfully disagree because investments are more efficient at lower levels + they’re all pretty useful and go hand in hand
whatever floats your boat ig ¯_(ツ)_/¯
This is my preferencec, but I’d reccommend having less than 40 power, since that’s when power gives slightly less extra damage than 1, as opposed to slightly more below 40. Also, power isn’t really worth it on vitality due to the inherenet damage reduction. Its better, efficiency wise to just go all in on intensity for damage (not very practical). I’d also recommend getting a LOT more defense, since that is vitality build’s forte, and also you’d need it for the insane drawback anyway. And the upcoming regen rework will probably work better with high defense as well.
Power’s investment scaling is nowhere near as noticeable as that of other stats, I didn’t even know it was a thing. It’s well worth it; 40 power can be easily tanked by all builds except glass cannons, which aren’t all that common. When it comes to Defense, remember that drawback is a percentage based effect; therefore the more HP you have, the more damage it does to you. A high defense low power Paladin really only has two options: turn off their Spirit Energy, therefore tanking attacks whilst having their attacks tanked (which isn’t all that exciting); or turn on Spirit Energy, and get your ass whooped because your attacks are dealing 150 damage to yourself. And finishing off on Intensity, a little goes a REALLY long way (seriously, look at the graph) and if you rely on Aura too much you’re bound to slip up and not switch Imbuements before casting it, thus giving you a massive drawback hit. I mean, you admit it’s impractical.
But hey that’s just my personal preference ig
too many substats imo, but otherwise decent
also idk about the intensity
i get some people say u can actually maximize damage by going a bit of intensity but… idk man i personally wouldn’t go intensity
what?
you won’t be able to deal any damage with that little power
the damage reduction isn’t applied when u use spirit imbue
what
very interesting takes you got there
i’m pretty sure it’s only a percentage based off ur base hp so defense doesn’t actually affect it
Aura goes hard with a lil intensity :V (i use defense aura)
U get more defense/power/speed/size from auras w/ more intensity?
Yes
