Alright, here’s the situation. You gotta talk to a girl, and you’re too scared to do it. It’s okay, it’s only natural! But this can’t keep going. You see, the thing is about romance is, just about everybody is looking for it, and soon enough, someone’s gonna look to her. If she says yes to this person, well, that dosen’t mean she couldn’t have loved you if you asked. It was possible. But you didn’t give her an opportunity to see you in that light.
You’re right to fear rejection. And frankly, we all are. It really, really, isn’t painless… despite what people will say to motivate you. It is an awful feeling. But saying nothing? Well, that isn’t painless either. You’re simply prolonging it. It’ll eat at you for the rest of your life. Even when you don’t care about the girl anymore, you’ll still regret never asking. I’ve been there, trust me. This isn’t something you can ignore. If she says no, only then would you actually get closure. If you’re afraid your friendship’s gonna be ruined because of it, I say, fuck em. If you can’t be honest in your relationship, it’s not worth having, even if there are good aspects. You deserve better. Listen, kiddo. Start with a hint. The ease of dropping that hint will make the next one a little easier, and even if they don’t catch on, by the time you need to directly ask, you’ve already touted the idea. Life is short. Pain and anxiety is even shorter. Regrets stay with you.

That aside, it seems like it’s all good, good job being able to just say what you feel. I’m pretty sure it’s a rather hard thing to do for most people, and the response you got seems to be one of the best possible. Happy for you, sir.
