Hi, It’s warm. I need some advice on how to get hecate essence, because I’m interested in changing my magic before full release drops and the far reaches get even harder to explore.
What sort of boat should I try to get for this purpose?

give up and pray that they give a free magic change in full release
no. please be actually serious here.
thats what im doing tbh
the fastest one you can get
try to go for the flatest islands you can find, the tall ones aren’t really worth the effort and make it very easy to miss the essence
thanks dude
I’ma be honest… All the Hecate Essence changes were made in FR. Sure, there will be island monsters and Sea creatures… but at the same time— you would use the old strategy anyways: run away.
In any case, get the fastest brig you can and bring some cargo for heals. Definetly spare a bronze repair hammer and a Repairer crewmate, but other than that; search islands that aren’t too tall in I3, and pray. No items help you rn. Again, avoid any Atlanteans, and skip Sirens / Volcanoes, unless its near the essence.
What do you mean with the siren and volcano stuff?
Siren islands and Volcano islands cannot spawn essence (i had terrible syntax there tbh)![]()
Avoid Atlanteans unless they happen to be near the essence and would fire (I believe you can still be damaged in the Essence Cut-scene until FR drops); Avoid Siren islands / looting, and Volcanoes
Mortarless, cannon-less, speed boat.
Cargo isn’t really needed but it can help
Hecate has a height limit on its spawn and attempts to spawn exposed, for the most part. Bring a recording/clipping software in case it is bugged/unreachable so you can report it and still get the hecate.
Seems most of the other points are covered.
regardless: wait for full release.
Anything we tell you now will be useless in a week.
Hunting for it will likely be less agonizing with the addition of sensing.
Don’t burn yourself out of AO just before the big update torturing yourself with a horrid grind.
Actually, there is another
Islands don’t spawn when you aren’t controlling your ship.
You can sit on your attachment and beeline toward i3… assuming you don’t run into an atlantean ship
oh and if you found it, only change your 1st magic
other can be change through stat reset and put all points back to magic and you will get to pick your 2nd magic
Learnt about it from a guy days ago when I was ferrying them to hecate.
Definitely works
I can attest to this. Hell— if you sail into DS without boarding the wheel, waves and tornadoes will also refrain from spawning. It takes a second to restart once you board the wheel, but this prevention is so that your boat isn’t annihilated as you explore islands.
Atlantean Ship, Volcanic Islands, Ridge Islands (dead rocks with nothing on them), and Sea Monsters will continue to spawn.
I personally used this myself for a decent mount of time, I found it out whilst fishing inbetween going towards the epicenter.
From what I’ve seen myself, waves, wave crashes and siren rocks did spawn for me.
I can’t remember if tornadoes did though.
I usually hold onto nothing and just fish, Waves will spawn, but they’ll almost never be in route to your ship, on top of spawning less frequently.
I was contemplating putting siren islands on as i couldnt remember if it was a possible spawn, or if it was the conjuration of me latching onto the ship for an occurance.
i have to kill myself
