the mages i fight are always moving around and stay in the air for the entire battle so its super hard to land a hit on themif you dont know even when my cursor is directly on my opponent as long as they’re in the air the move will always miss somehow).
mage weakness is close up fighting
I try to get close to them but they either use snare or some other knockback move like stuns. When im stunned i can barely move so i get hit by a bunch of aoe moves and take 500 damage.
Then when im far away looking for where the mage is in the arena, turns out they are actually on the corner of my screen.
Other times when i actually get close to them they dash right past me and i miss my move. during my endlag i am hit with an instant move like explosion or beam.
Just block
useless piece of advice ngl. Yes I block each time i finish using a move but theyll wait a few seconds before hitting me with beam or explosion by surprise. The moment i see the magic circle form i take damage cause they dont charge their moves.
Sometimes ill even be hit while using a move or dashing so at that moment its impossible to block
Find a vantage point like up or below them and attack them
yes this is some good advice but yet again they keep dodging and dashing and leaping yadayada so i cant even see whether they are up below right left to me and by the time i find them i already took 200 damage
Stay in the air
May be a mage weakness yeah, but there is an endlag when equipping my other weapons to stay in the air so i fall a little and then the mage leaps to my level and hits me with an attack, maybe a stun one too, so it aint easy to do that unfortunately. Also staying in the air tends to drain my magic energy a lot
i need help fighting mage or anyone with this playstyle in general. fighting this playstyle literally makes me go insane
Atleast this type of playstyle, as a snow mage main, is better than hit and running as a Ash Thermo Warlock. (Technically it’s more of a fight of attrition, oh well.)
Can confirm, sometimes enemies go below me and slap me with a quick move behind my backs.
How is this a mage weakness? i usually can stay mid-air and cast 3 spells as a first strike, but i usually jump around alot to building roofs, noticeable in Rubica combat.
i have a similar playstyle to FreezysAlt on youtube. use more spells, juke your opponent a lot, and get close to your opponent and hit them with a close range move.
I’m going to assume you’re a mage, which in that case the solution is easy.
Just. Use. Blast. You can watch Arcane Reborn PvP clips to get what I mean, this applies to every build agility, glass cannons and all, Deviable also is a good example, but I don’t have any clips of his shadow mage so sorry.
It’s mainly dashing and t jump (if they’re above) then blast them in the face, followed up by whatever.
While every class has a large variety of options to use at their disposal, mages are currently the only class than can reliably win most fights by specifically using 2 moves, if any other class in the game were to attempt this they would lose in almost any matchup (the matchups they would win would be ones with such a large gap in skill that it wouldn’t even be funny), skill in this game is determined by your ability to recognize a situation, and pick the right move at the current time, while also taking into account your own abilities, with improvement leading to more powerful attacks that require more precision to use. If I were to pick out a warrior player like erik, they have around 6-9 moves that they have to constantly think about using and find the best time to use them. The problem I have with mages is that they can literally use 1-2 moves for ALMOST EVERY FUCKING SITUATION and it’d be more powerful than almost anything the other side can output, they do not have to take into consideration what move would be most viable to use in this situation, how risky that move might be and what the risk/reward would be for using it, nor do they have to consider their own personal level of precision because it will hit regardless of that. To sum up, the current mage meta is a spit in the face to people who actually practice their aim, situational awareness, and move uses.
