last time i did a hecate essence run was pre-full release and it took 12 hours. back then the islands weren’t NEARLY as tall as what they are right now and if the short ones still exist i don’t think i’ve seen a single one. what is the current meta for finding it ? i don’t want to waste another 12 hours and end up with nothing
if youre a mage and willing to use up a good chunk of money (not really a problem when fleets exist now), buy a flight spell on the marketplace and let that baby ride on every single island you come across. you’ll be saving a good 30 minute scour on a giant island in just 2 - 4 minutes with a decent eye
if you aren’t a mage, then yikes

On Athena’s soul this is the correct method 
lvl 6 jewelcrafting, bunch of musgravite + luminous coral and as many gem slots as possible on the build
so the non-flight option is just to have a shit ton of movement speed to make it less insufferable
Don’t pray to Hecate though. She’s the one screwing you over.

SKIP ALL SIREN ROCKS/VOLCANO/SUNKEN FORESTS
doesn’t spawn there
SKIP ALL TALL ISLANDS
timewise, going through the hassle of actually exploring a super tall island is just not worth it
you’d be better off hauling ass and getting to the next island which can hopefully be shorter
SKIP ALL ISLANDS WITH TALL TREES
similar to first tip, its just kinda ass to look for hecate. if you don’t want to outright skip and the island isn’t too tall, go around it in ur brig to see if you can spot hecate from shore
USE ENERGY SENSING
pretty sure it allows you to sense where dark sea islands spawn (purple dot) may be mage exclusive however
USE CLEARSIGHT V BREW
mandatory.
JOIN NEW SERVERS
newer the server the higher ( i think?) island spawn rate. even if this is untrue, the less lag the better when you’re spending hours in i3

the tips are nice and all and thank you really but the problem with them is that i think they are a bit outdated. ever since full release i have NOT found a single island that wasn’t either above average or extremely tall in length (nvm just saw the video’s release date. maybe my luck is just ass)
yeah it is likely ur luck is just bad
Ive seen a couple good sized ones and i usually find my hecate there
naturally you’ll feel like you’ve missed a hecate when you sail past islands but its whatever
any spirit hybrid can access spirit flight by tossing it on patrimony, and spirit flight is much easier to get.

If he prayed to Zeus he would’ve let him hit Spirit Flight for the cheap and easy 160 
At the very least, he hopefully has Sword Step and can move decently fast. Go all in for a haste build and scour islands.

yeah i do, and i went and found hecate after it was wrong
not sure if this still works but by sitting on a cannon or mortar (& maybe ship attachments) no islands will spawn since your not at the wheel. With a fast brig you should be able to get to far reaches way quicker.
