I need tips for getting master angler

I got myself expert angler title a few months ago and have stopped playing the game since. Today i got back playing and wanted to get myself the master angler title, and I also heard that luck got reworked.

So here’s my question: is there any updated tips for getting the master angler title now? Does Luck V helps me get this title easier?

luck was too good! you were able to initiate a positive feedback loop like you would be able to in a perfect world! it empowered the users too much!

luck V only gives you items
DO NOT USE IT FOR MASTER ANGLER.
use it for dark sealed chests or…

not with the second rework, which makes it so that it only effects when you would get items anyway :skull:

when luck affected fish, master angler was doable. now? its essentially impossible, getting a single legendary fish is astronomically rare

Only tips I can give is to use different rods/enchants depending on the fish you need. I use the toughened fishmonger rod in the dark sea for massive fish and graced bronze for golden fish. Otherwise I just use ensnaring bronze for everything else and pray I get what I need.

  • Make sure your boat is out, fish that get caught count to your fishing log.
  • I use Graced Bronze for normal fish and Toughened Bronze for massive fish. If you don’t have those enchants, go dark sea fishing until you get them.
  • Get the freshwater fish first, since your boat can be getting ocean fish at the same time, so there’s no overlap (eg. you and your boat catch a Golden Trout). Once you get the freshwater fish, then go do Dark Sea fishing until you get all the massives.
  • If you can’t catch any more unique fish during a certain time at freshwater, try to fish at a pond near the ocean, like the pond on the road to the Sameria capital from the first town you go to during the story. The river counts as ocean, so I was able to fish the ocean at night when I was done with warm night freshwater fish.
  • You can cast your fishing rod from inside a brig to avoid getting caught by waves when dark sea fishing.
  • Park near an island with one of those small caves when dark sea fishing, so if you need to step away you can go into the cave and avoid water poisoning.
  • Turn up the volume so you can hear the bobber splashing before the fish bites.
  • Don’t worry about not getting what you want.
  • Vendor the uncommon+ fish that won’t get you golden or legendary scales. This doesn’t help with Master Angler, but it’s some decent galleons. Keep the common fish, the bones are worth more than what you’d sell the fish for.

wait im confused, does luck V still affect fish even if its a small effect? or does it completely do nothing to fishing. I checked the wiki and it said it gives 3 items instead of 1

They changed luck so that instead of increasing the rarity of items, you just roll more items so there’s a higher chance of getting a rare one. Unfortunately, this does not affect fish. Only the items caught through fishing

Honestly, I’d wait until vetex adds the Fishmonger profession, if he ends up doing that. I ran the numbers awhile back and without luck you’ll probably end up with over 70,000 fish caught for master angler. Eventually I’m going to do get more accurate stats to ask Vetex to make the title more manageable somewhat. Especially since the people who took advantage of luck had a 70% easier task than the rest of the player base.
