to find players on boats, pick the middle right or left side of the sea (horizontal), and sail to the other side of the sea in a 30-45 degree zigzag pattern. Last found island posters can help you choose middle right or left more accurately
Just check the poster, if it says they are sailling just try to send them a trade or message to check they are still within the war seas, then just check if they have a claimmed island, if not just sail around the most common islands people go, like ravenna to whitesummit.
