Well I am thinking that someone in the assasin sydicate is a high lord because the corsairs to make a roadblock to raise the tension between Sameria and Keraxe.
If there is a high lord in the assasin syndicate, I am guessing it would be a cardinal not a overseer or architect
No… they just want more war
Because they profit from war
I think the Assassin Syndicate wanting to raise tensions suggest the complete opposite, at least the higher ups. Calvus is literally a high lord who was behind the Sameria and Keraxe treaty, AS wants to raise tensions between Sameria and Keraxe, which goes against said treaty, which itself was implied to be in the Order’s interests. This means AS is actually OPPOSING the Order, at least indirectly.
Not only that, they were nonchalant with Calvus being killed, and seems to be happy about that. Again, that wouldnt be possible if theyre associated with the Order.
Though I do wonder wat Rill Hendrix was talking about that the higher ups where corrupt in some way.
Yes, but not everything corrupt has to do with the Order.
He implies the AS is actively causing wars in the War Seas. Makes sense cause we know they profit from war. But Calvus implies the Order is trying to do the opposite.
The organization that is far more likely to be working with the Order is the Grand Navy, not Assassin Syndicate.
I feel like the Syndicate is not affiriated with the order because:
-
They’re freelance mercenaries, and only take jobs for the money. They don’t care for magic experiments or “greater good”. They don’t have any interest in the order.
-
Their description says “used by Kingdoms as an underhanded weapon in war”, which means they definitely favour conflict as opposed to the order.
On the other hand, the Navy seems a lot more likely. They are a good tool for supressing riots and influencing Kingdoms.
Assassin’s will always make money from more war, despite them being typical baddies the order through king calvus directly negotiated peace between keraxe and sameria. Im pretty sure its just a simple case of the assassins wanting more war to get more contracts from both sides
I do think there’s more to it than profit cause we have lines from 2 characters now hinting that its a bit more complex, but I don’t think it has anything to do with the order because it directly conflicts with Calvus who’s a high lord and made the peace treaty in the first place.
Not like i disagree with assasin having nothing to do with the order but im gonna assume at least one or two would end up wanting to reach a greater purpose
Ok so look here’s the deal. Not all “Evil Organization” will be trying to cause mass chaos and suffering constantly. They’re trying to break some seal on some ancient force yeah? Nothing says the seal has anything to do with the peace of the seas. It’d be a lot easier to break this seal if there’s no war causing embargos on supplies and blockades screwing over coordination. Heck, it’d be even easier if you can buy any good from any nation that you need, rather than having to deal with all the annoying wartime tariffs and trade barriers, and you can even recruit new allies if they’re not busy fighting a war.
In fact, the Assassin Syndicate might actually be the good guys, trying to delay the order long enough to get more information on them and be able to stop them, through causing enough wars to seriously hamper trade/communications.
Tl;dr, the order is an allegory for free trade
Pretty sure that peace was negotiated well before Calvus rose to power
Maybe, but Calvus, and Ravenna as a whole, were clearly a huge part of the treaty given that Calvus’ death lead to Wotan immediately jumping on Sameria
Yeah, but I doubt the higher ups are… cause it seems AS is indirectly opposing the Order (as they wanted to jeopardise the peace that was kinda established by the Order)
No Calvus was the one who made the treaty
This is from Revon’s speech in Rasna when you first get to Ravenna
Ahhhh right I forgot, for some reason I thought it was his father who brokered the peace.
Probably because he’s a pathetic loser
Listen you didn’t hear this from me but… Calvus didn’t actually make the peace treaty, he just told his little brother that so he would think he was cool. If anyone asks, we’ve never met.
honestly I wouldnt be surprised if the A.S wanted the Caesar family dead (as it would throw Ravenna’s chain of command so out of wack that it would probably cause the kingdom to fall into anarchy and start up the Keraxe-Sameria war, which is great for them).
Issue is, no one is stupid or suicidal enough to assassinate the King and his family for even the largest of sums, so when some dumbass (us) casually deals enough damage to Ravenna’s chain of command to essentially deal the same damage as wiping out the royal family for free, I would assume they would be very happy about it.
Money
they want money
i dont understand why ravenna would be a deterrent to keraxe jumping sameria given they’re weak as shit
this would imply that ravenna has some sort of power and may even be one of the stronger kingdoms, which simply just isnt the case
