there are 2 worlds in this game (3 if you count l2), the overworld and the depths. dying twice in the overworld sends you to the depths, where you have a chance to escape, but if you die in the depths, your character wipes.

if you level up after losing your first life you get it back. if you’re in the depths the only way to get your lives back is to escape

the depths are extremely frightening and dangerous at first, but by power 15 you can stat check like 80% of the mobs there

power is basically level, max power is 20
although each power is more like 15 (or 5) levels depending on how you look at it
