I will rank you based on your favourite extinct bird

standard SABCDF format

Post your favourite extinct bird below and I will judge you

Criteria for ranks:

S tier- awesome, my favourite extinct bird.
A tier- pretty swaggy bird, not my favourite but I like it.
B tier- I guess it’s pretty neat
C tier- generic small brown flying bird, cause of extinction being loss of habitat or introduction of predators (or something on that level)
D tier- dodo
F tier- What the hell man? this isn’t even a bird

I will count transitionary species closely related to birds as valid (so like archaeopteryx is okay, archaeopteris isn’t)

also vote:
already count the people I asked for their favourite birds in their respective AMA threads?

Jerry.

I know he’s not a species, but there’ll never be another bird like Jerry.

Argentavis and Archaeopteryx (the only two I know since I dont think the Quetzacoatl is a bird)

kaua’i o’o

Hawai’i 'o’o. They have shoulder pads, what more could you possibly want

Edit: dang it someone else already mentioned an 'o’o

The great auk, funny thing

i dont really know of extinct birds but if there are any extinct types of mergansers ill probalby just go with those because i like mergansers

Finally someone recognises peak

Hast’s Eagle i think that is what it was called?
I found about it in an old encyclopaedia on extinct species or smth i dont rember

close, it’s Haast’s Eagle

pretty on par with argentavis [1] so also A tier

  1. as in it’s big and also a predatory bird. Argentavis wins on it being the biggest, but Haast’s Eagle has cool stories about it so it balances out ↩︎
