Ideas for solving the lag problem (probably impractical)

  • NPC ships should despawn after 20 minutes out of combat.
  • Notoriety ships should despawn after 5 minutes out of combat.
  • Notoriety NPCs should despawn after 5 full minutes out of combat.
  • Poison/Ash clouds should be extremely simplistic and unrefreshable (meaning gas users can make their clouds bigger, but the timer for that bigger gas cloud is based on the FIRST gas cloud timer.)
  • Rock rubble should disappear in a matter of seconds.
  • NPCs should have passive states in which they are invulnerable and static; when they are rendered, they return to normal aggression.

no, hold on

let evelynn and therefore me cook

separate the dark sea into its own server
make chests stop giving crap useless shirts and pants all the time that clog up player inventories

that will never happen

vetex has said it, it probably wouldn’t work that well, and overall its kind of dumb

(and steal any useful modifiers from you)

Dark Sea wasn’t a big contributor to lag as far as I could tell when I profiled the game. If it was, was probably a rendering related problem so hopefully the occlusion culling update Roblox is pushing soon does something. The inventory really shouldn’t be a problem in AO and that’s something Vetex needs to fix, not reduce the amount of items given.
