Ideas on how to make fighting style better in pve

fighting styles being buttcheeks in pve is pretty well known but it seems like nothing is being done about it
we can’t directly buff it cus it’s strong in pvp
and i don’t agree with giving it ranged options since it defeats the whole purpose of a close ranged rushdown path

an idea i’ve heard is to give fighting styles hitstun against npcs

thoughts?

alternatively vetex can update npc ai to act more like players since fighting styles work perfectly fine against players
so like, no instant reaction speed, no block / parry hacks, and more similar attack patterns to players

Either make it so npc’s just don’t automatically react if you hit them with a strength-based move (like you said.) Or give them some way to quickly disengage once you land a hit

Kinda hard to do since npcs are pretty stupid by nature, so they are juiced up with stats to compensate. Problem is, berserkers can’t really abuse their AI (unless you use attack size, but by that point you are barely berserkin’), and on top of that, you have to directly deal with their super high level.

A good first step would be tuning down their block I think

what fighting style is ass at pve?

all of em

they don’t have to be stupid by nature
i’m sure there’s a way to make a realistic player-like npc ai

also they don’t have juiced up stats they just have a higher level cap

thats exactly how an npc can have juiced up stats in this game

i thought u meant more stats per level mb

Fighting Style reworks is planned

Which aims to make them viable in PvE and actually not get eaten alive by weapons and magic in CqC for PvP

where was this said?

Yes bro

Also what if rushdown got custom grabs or something for some bosses, like we could make Calvus shit himself by grabbing him and he’s get a custom face reaction or something idk

grabs should just work on bosses
ai would prolly have to be changed and this isnt gonna happen but i imagine that fixes fs in pve somewhat

Yes.

If I had to rank Fighting Styles in terms of them being good in PvE, it’d go Thermo Fist (yes, I’m serious), Cannon Fist, Boxing, and then the other styles. Cannon Fist’s ranged M1 is a godsend in PvE, since NPCs don’t bounce around like a little kid when they find out they’re going to Disney World, while the other two are fast and let you either get more range out of Shot (I think? That’s at least how it feels when I use them) or keeps enemies from jumping over your Axe-Slash at the most convenient time for them.

That doesn’t stop them from turning almost all of your Techniques into death sentences, though. One mistimed Crash or Smash can disintegrate at least a third of your HP.

Yeah i agree on your points really like how PVE on strength got indirect nerfed because of the shot nerf for pvp like only getting range when you hold it while beam you just gotta aim like wth bro, i thought it should be a nerf to balance them both but beam is better now bruh

Berserker is such a weird class because pvp wise it’s a monster but pve wise you’re almost entirely cooked just because of much of an inherently unfair advantage NPCs have in CQC and in general

Unrelated but One thing on thermo rn is its kinda bad at pvp when you are the one getting hunted that is, as pvping while low heat its like getting the car started with 3 key spark i been a thermo for a while i dont really like how vulnerable thermo is now like you would be always dead with either size builds or you got surprised attacked smh
