Assuming logically, shapeshifting could only include being able to individually control every atom or cell in your body, but only ones that are part of your body. Which means you could probably turn into a tree by rearranging the atoms in your cells to create plant cells, but you would be a small tree since you would have the same atomic mass of when you were a human. Shapeshifting could also include changing the atoms inside your body to become different atoms, which would make actual transformations into different elements possible. This could be done by not only controlling each atom, but each subatomic particle inside of it. This would allow changing of the elements inside your body freely and allow total control of what makes up your body. You couldn’t make yourself massive since you are still restricted to the atoms and subatomic particles your body already has. In conclusion, if you could individually control each subatomic particle in your body, say, with highly advanced telekinesis, it would be possible. You could take certain parts of the atoms in your body and move them individually. This would take lots of practice assuming atoms could collapse and the controlling of electrical charge and transfer of electrons between the atoms you’re switching around the subatomic particles of, to move your mass and change your atoms. You could die quite easily if you used this power and would take trillions of years of practice most likely to master being able to shapeshift safely. Yes, this would allow you to split off parts of your body and be able to telepathically control them. You could even become larger by separating your atoms, becoming more hollow like a sponge.
This is highly illogical, but telepathically manipulating subatomic particles of each atom in your body would allow full shapeshifting capabilities, besides changing mass. Thus ends my college essay (Jk.)
