Im having a really annoying issue with combat right now, has anyone else experienced this?

Okay so for the past 2 days when I’ve been pvping with my friends I’ve experienced this really weird and frustrating bug, where it seems like there’s some sort of visual disconnect between the visuals of an attack (like the magic blast of a spell or a thrown spear) and where the actual hitbox is. Basically imagine like, someone throws a spear at you or shoots a magic blast attack at you, and you visibly dodge it on your screen, but it still damages you.

I’m not sure if this is an actual bug or not, or lag, or some sort of game mechanic (my friends told me how it works is if the attacker renders you getting hit you on his screen, you get hit), but it’s been really annoying the crap out of me lately cause frankly it sucks.

You can literally dodge someone’s attack, or be nowhere near the attack, but it’ll still hit you. That makes no sense at all. I haven’t found a way to replicate this but it has happened to me a bunch of times now, I have uploaded a lot of clips where this has happened.

Anyway I have basically no idea whats going on, and I just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced the same thing or knows whats up, please reply. Cheers!

Yea I noticed that today when I was pvping someone. Never really bothered me since if it happens to you it happens to them too. I think its lag from the server no the client.

the current pvp hitreg mechanism is clientsided. meaning that if player hit you on their screen, you’re registered as hit.

Seems like that can be exploited thru a lag switch…

Honestly what’s even more annoying is that literally all aspects of magic speed are affected by FPS.

If I fire a 5 shot, but my FPS drops, I am literally going to be:

More vulnerable, as my attack takes longer to complete - meaning I am completely still.
Less damaging, as my DPS falls into the gutter.
Less accurate, as the projectiles themselves loose speed.

Disregarding the presence of FPS unlocking, just having better specs will literally allow you to have a critical edge over other players.

You can’t use fps unlockers in wom since it auto kicks you if you have one on.

Dude, this is what I’ve been saying too. Like if you don’t have a super powerful computer you’re literally already at a disadvantage. Especially against any magic types which have a lot of particle effects or blind your screen.

I was fighting my friend the other day, and he unleashed a barrage on me while I launching an attack. This attack shouldn’t have lasted longer than 2 seconds, but his barrage dunked my fps and basically trapped me there until I died.
Sometimes when I have low fps in combat my character waits several seconds in the cast state without actually shooting, which is beyond frustrating. I really hope this gets changed man.

I don’t pvp so I haven’t experienced this

I think that’s unbelievably dumb. You can’t even trust what you’re seeing, how are you supposed to dodge shots if half the time you do and it hits you anyway?

i havent really had this issue at all but i havent pvp’d a whole lot yet either

Attacks are client sided so if the attack hit on your friends screen it hit you on your screen.

Why is that how it works? I feel like that’s a pretty bad way of going about it because you can literally dodge an attack on your screen, but nope you’ll still be hit just because they hit you on their screen.

It drastically increases client side performance.

This is due to lag. I suggest you try to practice learning blocking and perfect blocking

Hey, glad you made this post. From the clips I saw none of those are really bugs. You should of seen it before the game released. Placing an explosion down could be somewhere totally away from you desired location. It still sometimes happens but not as bad as it was.

Now onto explaining why this happens. The main one is going to be ping. On both ends, because the faster information can communicate with each other the more these checks would be accurate. As on your screen your probably away from the blast, but on their screen your still within range.

I think the takeaway from this, Is you should always assume your character is going to be 60-500 milliseconds behind in retrieving information and this will always be a hassle. Lag could also be a contributor to this as having a faster fps than someone else makes the game feel like they have an advantage. Which is another topic in of itself.

That’s unfortunate. I just wish there was a better way but thanks for explaining it to me.
