I'm having art trouble help

so like how do I draw a really long snout like this:
Steam Community :: Guide :: All Unlocks
facing forwards? / or really any angle in a 3d space

Break it up into different simplified shapes and examine how the dimensions change depending on the angle you view it from. Basically create the dimensions for the top, side and front view and you should get an idea on how to build from that shape

A little hard to explain since I am rusty at perspective myself but hopefully it gives the idea.

does anyone have maybe like a visual demonstration because although I always break things to easy shapes this needs my eyes for learning :mariomug:

get good at shading

okay, warmwater, listen to me.

how does shading.

have literally ANYTHING TO DO, with perspective?

if you can show how the shadows fall onto something, you can tell pretty well what it’s dimensions are.

that’s a very important fact, and how we see the world. take images of things like vantablack. in those videos they always pass an object in front of it, and you can’t tell it’s there because there’s no shadows or anything that lets you know about it.

however, if you put a monochrome white object in front of a monochrome white backround, you can somewhat easily tell what’s in front of what and it’s general shape because of shadows

okay but like

shading isn’t gonna really help with drawing a snout from multiple perspectives… that just adds depth to the piece…

shading is still one of the easier methods to see just how far forward something is

yea but that doesn’t tell me the shape or distortions of something when I’m looking at it upwards/downwards/at a 45 degree angle and so on.

In a way warmwater is right. Foreshortening and all those perspective stuff are fairly advanced. Mastering the basics can help you push through to more advanced techniques in art.

okay look at this:
Canine heads step-by-step by TheShadowedGrim on DeviantArt | Dog drawing tutorial, Art tutorials drawing, Animal drawings sketches

these have basically no shading in them at all.

it’s just shapes, distorted or changed in an angle that represents the viewpoint/angle of which the looker (me and you) is supposed to be viewing the character/subject.

that’s what I need.

shading doesn’t necessarily help me here, I need basic construction.

now I need this, to translate into an EXTRA long snout like the image from the original post I made
