A level 20+ Branch Bow is BETTER than a level 30+ Alalean Bow.
A level 20+ Old Shortsword is BETTER than a level 40+ Alalean Cutlass.

Like WTF is this?? First off, ‘branch’ and ‘old’ don’t seem to me as very ‘good’ weapons. Secondly, by the time I reached level 40 to be able to get these weapons, a had already gotten 3 Branch Bows and 2 Old Shortswords from chests. It wouldn’t be so bad if they were hard to get, but the problem is that players generally already get these weapons BEFORE they are even able to buy the culture stuff. So whats the point of even buying them? The thing is, I’m not complaining about the Vistarian Crossbow or the Vistarian Spear, because those have specialities to them that make them good, such as longer range and the ability to throw, but the cutlass spin move is kinda useless. Either make the Branch Bow and the Old Shortsword rarer in chests or buff the culture weapons. Thanks.

How is it better by the way? Do explain

Branch Bow does do more damage than a Castlian/Alalean Bow at level 30-40 if they are the same level, but after that, those cultural bows are a direct upgrade from the Branch Bow. And how could a lower level bow be better than a higher level bow? That doesn’t make much sense.

An Old Shortsword deals less base damage than the Alalean Cutlass, but takes slightly less stamina with higher attack speed in exchange. The Alalean Cutlass hits harder in exchange for slightly slower attack speed and a higher stamina cost while having an AoE spin ability that may deal low damage, but covers about the same radius of Sphere Explosions at the current level cap in addition to easily applying bleeding.

So by the Alalean Bow being a “direct upgrade”, do you mean it scales more with level? Because currently it does 0.01 more Damage Multiplier at lvl 40 vs 30…

And also, I think you are wrong about the Alalean Cutlass doing more base damage than the Old Shortsword, because at level 40 the base damage is 16 for the cutlass and at lvl 20 its 19 for the shortsword.

It is sort of hard to explain the base damage/damage multiplier of weapons since it isn’t a stat shown when you hover over them. But the fact still stands that the cultural variants of those weapons are superior as of the current endgame.

Ok that’s fair enough then, thanks for your help.

Old shortsword also has a shorter blade than Castlian Sword/Alalean Cutlass, meaning you are going to lose blade clashes.
