Hey guys, this post is for people interested in my planned virtual tabletop experience that I’ve been working on, the Opal Adventure.
If you aren’t interested then don’t worry about this topic, but if you plan to be a serious participant, then you may wanna read this.
I’m thinking about making it obligatory or at least heavily incentivized to have players custom make their own character sprites for combat. I’m thinking this could be helpful as it would essentially let people have their own little digital figures that we could use to display on battle UIs along with enemies and environments. While this might seem simple, and you only really need to make 1 sprite, I worry about technical issues with some people who don’t have experience with creating a transparent character sprite, or may need guidance, but then again it wouldn’t be that hard to teach, so I believe that overall it’s a good idea to have, it also encourages a factor thats important to the story of my campaign.
TL;DR: players will need to draw their own character sprites, doesn’t have to look amazing, but it’s for functionality/lore purposes.
Tell me what you guys think about this and if it’s a good idea or not
Yeah that’s the main issue I think might come up, the average person doesn’t know what a kumu or prismalgam looks like so mandating too high a level of detail would essentially garuntee an all human cast
One of the biggest issues I feel like WT had was that there were TONS of people at the beginning and because of that it was pretty difficult to understand what was going on.
Now imagine having like 9+ people in a game with turn based combat where damage calcs exist and sooner or later the turns will feel like eternity
Yea, but I feel like that kind of was, a little awkward in a way.
It’s overwhelming for a moment and then the next it feels like everyone just deserted their adventures, not necessarily the most ideal situation if ykwim
