well, duuuh they are so easy to beat when you cheese them, that is what everyone does, but… ig that isnt the point of the fights, kalliste ai breaks with the sea but his room is soo small that if he farts once his whole office explodes
Am I the only one out here who thinks iris should be given a stronger DoT instead of raw damage?
raw damage would also increase DoT damage.
Yes, with a bit of playtime Shura is a complete pushover, but when i was a completely new player his role was useful in actually learning a few basic mechanics since the only prior enemies dont teach anything at all (you can just stand still and m1). If iris is teaching players to dodge, then why increase shura speed and give him dash/tp attacks that encourage dodging given his high DOT? a random tp then grab attack sounds quite irritating, and would leave a bad taste from the first boss.
The changes to Iris are fine.
Giving one of the most notoriously difficult bosses a direct buff is a bad idea. “wrecking the throne room”, but many attacks already cover a huge proportion of the arena. His slow but large attacks encourage learning how to block/parry. having 2 distinct playstyles he can choose would make it too confusing to adapt unless its split between phase 1,2 only (which would make sense). I would change the pillar attack since every time its a no skill gamble if you want to continue attacking and get hit by a weaker beam while in endlag before being able to block, or he might decide to charge further while you prepare to block and by the time you attack again its 1000+ dmg.
any change to captain maria is good
This is actually pretty true, especially with captain maria, her aoe is just way to big on the 2nd phase, so every time I end up cheesing her, also I feel like calvus should use his little trident spear thing (I forgot the name) more
I think Shura is fine as is, as it was also the first enemy that was actually capable of killing me as a new player, Iris should get a small buff however just to reduce the difficulty spike towards the next boss (Seriously, Iris is basically a +33% HP boost compared to Shura, and then Elius pulls a +300% health boost compared to Iris)
Calvus however is fine as is, his attacks are huge already, he doesn’t need extra speed, also pls don’t make him destroy more stuff- destroying certain objects like the chandelier just gives me lag spikes
Maria - Fuck Maria, she does not deserve complete invulnerability for 2 attacks, Especially the damn aura move, i understand why it would be for the tentacles since she becomes a sitting duck and would be free damage, but the aura move? That is just unfun, resetting her own health when i am staring at her face waiting for permission to hit her before my attack permissions get revoked again
When it comes to ratings I’m quite strict. I have the stars at 3 by default and will lower or raise it depending on the suggestion content. I rarely judge based on grammar anyways, I put 1 for quality because I didn’t think the suggestion is good. I put effort for 2 because you probably did put effort but were just asking the replies for ideas. Finally I put reasonability because I don’t see it making into the game, especially with other pressing matters.
So definitely not under exaggerated in my standards
Is there a source about players quitting when they face a significant difficulty spike after getting accustomed to the game’s mechanics? At this point they would’ve done some side quests, got some armor items, and got slightly better. The spike at Elius isn’t as bad as you make it out to be and he definitely isn’t overbuffed. Most players quit when they ran out of content after finishing the bronze Sea Arc all the way back when. The only players who this would apply to are little kids.
They’re meant to be easy, which is why they are. The thing about blocking and complex dodging is already being improved with Fartman’s partially accepted enemy ai suggestion. They would’ve already learned how to do it by fighting the improved enemy ai and various other enemies.
Other people mentioned similar criticism with not making Shura too hard so I suggest reading those as well.
Also him being a samurai shouldn’t interfere with the game’s difficulty learning curve. If you want to be even more realistic then you’d acknowledge that many samurai’s reputation that they portray in media aren’t as they are in history (A lot of them were assholes benefiting from the perks of having the samurai title). So an exception can be made for Shura. Not all of them are serious and honorable
As I said before having more: speed, attacking immediately after using smoke screens, randomly teleporting before using grabs, having another dash slash, and then having dot on top of that.
I feel like your focusing on the flashiness/cool factor and not at all on what it’s like for a new player completely foreign to anything involving this game’s mechanics. I mean you even admit that getting hit once combined with his DOT will cook a level 10 player’s health.
Overbuffing them is basically what you did. I mean you even say you want to make them more threatening to feel like serious enemies. Shura is already somewhat threatening for fresh players going through for the first time for a tutorial boss, Iris can go either way, and Calvus is already threatening. If you want them to accomplish that then you should go with the Hard mode / newgame+ I mentioned before.
That’s a common writing technique I use nowadays, when I am typing something like this suggestion and then let other people add other stuff for more excitement.

Probably not seeing as the game’s not finished. Although having a suggestion for it would be cool for some of these difficulty changes.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s at the back of Vetex’s mind.
