In general fantasy, can liquids or gas pass through a portal?

Random question. In my world, it’s a yes and I feel like someone will eventually use portals as a makeshift vacuum.

Liquids yes, gas not really unless encased in a different thing

Basically if you make a portal to space you’ll be fine, but if you bring sparkling water through or something it wont magically go flat

why wouldn’t they?

i’ve never seen it but idk

i think the game portal 2 does it in its ending

Might be based on if the portal is extremely cold or if it is going to a cold environment then technically they couldn’t because they would transform into a solid

It’s a fantasy mate. Do whatever you want.

it’d be funny to see someone attempt to put a portal in their house that leads directly to the bottom of the ocean and have their house flood

More ways to copy Gojo’s trick, taking note of that for later

Logically yeah liquid and gas would pass through

As someone already said here portal 2 is a great example. There is the whole moon ending where the main character shoots the moon with a portal as a final attempt to stop wheatley who is consequently jettisoned into the abyss of space. Which is caused by the movement of the air because it naturally moves towards the point of less density yap yap yap you know how air works.

Portal also features weird liquid paint goo going through portals so there’s that too. Not really anything crazy going on there

But it does really depend on the function and or inspiration behind the portals, like are you going for a more “transparent” portal from something like portal or something like a Minecraft nether portal which is more “opaque” and functions like the previous portal but to a lesser extent. At the end of the day it’s your system so do whatever idk

If a person can go through a portal, then yes, liquids and gasses can go through.
