or a folk lore idk what its classified as
anw, pls look at your feet… or someone else, whichever is preferable for you
now, you might notice something strange abt it - it aint flat, but has a slomp of sort
ya ever wondered why? see, my lovely country got jusstttttt the shit to explain
a long long time ago
everyone was cannibals, apparently - from the bottom of the rung to all the higher up
basically, supposedly, according to the tale, when someone die, rather than burying them or cremating them or whatever, people used to just eat them, like cut them apart and spread around people of the village and shit, and even more (like if the village is under some governmental control or something ig idk abt these stuffs they basically have to give corpse part to them also)
“what the fuck” might be what some of you are wondering, and good news, you aint alone, cuz a boy in a village had the same thought
“not even animals eat their dead kins, why are we eating ours!?” the little boy asks himself in frustration as he watches his family’s cow(s?) tends to its young (he’s a little village boy in a rural village please forgive his gross ignorance of the wider natural world)
he loves his mother a lot, see, and doesnt want her to be eaten
but he’s just a poor, poor child, how could he alone (his father a deadbeat probably cuz i dont remember anything abt him) possibly do anything to stop the entire village from consuming the corpse of his mother when the time come for her demise!
and so, he has conceived an idea most ingenious - instead of eating the flesh he got from other people’s corpses, he preserve them instead, intending to use them to give out instead of having to butcher his mama up
problem, though, when the day come - woe is him - there wasnt enough flesh!
the savage, ravenous villagers demand him to let them eat his mother, but the no-longer-a-boy refused, and killed his own cows that were the sole source of income for him, but the hungry, greedy villagers were still not satisfied - there were two more people who hasnt had their fill yet, asking to just carve a small part of his mother, saying he has done a lot for her already
the not-boy, however, vehemently refused, and thought hard about how to preserve the totality of his mother’s mortal remains
and decided to carve the bottom of his own feet out to give them instead
yep, apparently people used to have flat feet back then, but, so utterly moved by the man’s action, the villagers (for some reason, only now) decided to abolish their cannibalistic traditions and instead only offer up animal meat when they have to bring flesh for their rulers
naturally, they didnt have enough, and so, following the man’s action, they too did the same, carving out the bottom of their own feet to offer up to their rulers, an action that was soon followed by many other villages
eventually, shits happen, and the king decides to stop demanding flesh offering from the people entirely, as even within the palace(?idk what its called) people were doing that as well, and this may surprised you, but people who just carved out their feet dont work very effectively, and the king cant let that happen!
what? you thought he realized how barbaric it was and decided to call it off?
pft
please
and so, that, my friends, is how you lot got uneven feet instead of flat ones
i bid you my farewell now, for it is time for me to wake up
see you tomorrow!
…the part from after the boy carved his foot out and the village followed are me bullshiting up actually i dont remember anything after that but like. why does a single village end up making the entirety of humanity not having flat foot?
…then again, perhaps i shouldnt have questioned things in the first place, this is a folk tale, after all~
