I recently encountered a bug (or possibly series of them) that I’ve decided to call the Insanity Infinideath. Why do I call it that, you might ask? Well, let me start from the beginning.
I was raiding Fort Castrum for the egg with one other person (I feel so bad making them deal with this). Getting low on health, I open my inventory, type in “fish” looking for a regen meal, and down the first one I find, not noticing or particularly caring that it gave me Insanity 2. That’s when the problems started.
I died in 5 seconds, without having taken another single hit of damage from the NPCs.
what.
I respawn on my ship, dodge-run my way back up the ramp into the fort, and die again in about a minute. By now, I’m starting to suspect a hacker, as on this file I have 1800 health and play a pretty medium-long-range style of combat, so there’s no way I could take that much damage on phase 3 of a Castrum raid with only one other person there.
Respawn on my ship again, this time paying more attention to my health bar. Oddly enough, the moment I step off my ship, it starts going down. Quickly. Small purple damage numbers appear all over my character.
I’m taking insanity damage.
At INSANITY TWO.
Oh well, I think, it should only be another minute of insanity, the meal I ate only gave me 2 minutes of it. I die one more time to insanity damage, not even bothering to join the fight this time because I knew I wouldn’t do much before my time ran out. I kept my cursor on the status effect the whole time, watching the seconds count down. I die with 5 seconds left on the timer.
Respawn on my ship expecting 5 more seconds of Insanity 2 damage. After 10 seconds, I start getting worried, and hover over the effect again.
One minute, thirty seconds remaining.
HUH??? All my other effects are gone by this point. Thank goodness for the loadouts gamepass, because I quickly equipped my Warding 3 Dark Sea gear. Or rather, I would be saying “thank goodness” IF THE WARDING GEAR DID ANYTHING. I kept taking damage and hallucinating as if I wasn’t wearing it at all.
Well then. I’m stuck dying slowly on the deck of my ship, knowing I can’t help my partner with all the enemies right above me because they’ll kill me instantly with how much health I now have. I assume that my Insanity will reset back to a minute thirty seconds again if I die, so I do the only thing left that I can do and take my only Healing T5 potion.
After that one minute thirty seconds is up, I manage to survive with under a hundred health. I guess I was lucky I had that potion, huh? Cured from my eternal deathloop at last, I go back and enter the fight.
Then I immediately disconnect from the server. With a combat log.
I love this game.
