IS Arcane Odyssey a Pirate Game?

What is the MAIN way to earn items in this game? Attacking ships and plundering their loot. Even if you’re a good rep player, you’re still a pirate, just government sanctioned. This doesn’t mean AO isn’t also a wizard game, as much as it is an exploration and story game, but saying it’s not a pirate game is just stupid.

Lets look at what inspired Arcane Odyssey.

  • Assassin’s Creed Black Flag

    I do NOT need to explain how pirates are related to one piece, the main character literally wants to be king of the pirates
  • Sea of Thieves

    You assume the role of a pirate.
  • PIRATES of the Carribean
    need i say more? arcane odyssey is a pirate game through and through.

videogames don’t need to directly say what kind of game they are in order to be a kind of game, I don’t see why anyone would say AO isn’t a seafaring piratey game

technically speaking erm most ships aggro onto you first so if you only fight in self-defense you’re just defending yourself before taking a few now ownerless chests :nerd:

Nah, it’s an Action Roleplay RPG where you roleplay a homeless person that commits regicide a few months after waking up without memories.

it’s a pirate game but you shouldn’t use that argument to justify why you aren’t a dick for robbing a poor newbie’s dark sea run

Me and my freinds did the most epic robberey on a lb player when darksea was still new. We all posted up at different parts of the map waiting for him to come back. long story short we got the feat and all the loot T_T.

the correct, lore accurate drip is the ragged shirt and pants we get at the start of the game, and nothing else.

some goofy goober (cough cough MEEPY18 i still remember him for that) and his friends tried to do the same to me

i was hiding behind the pelion rift for 30 minutes and they would not go away

eventually they found me but i managed to escape into the water, cashing in exactly zero of my dark sealed chests :cry:

this is exactly why we minmax ship speed (tho if you wanted that extra stability for the dark sea i dont blame ya)

Aside from stating the obvious, I don’t really see what the point that’s trying to be proven is.

The only other time I see people bring up at AO is a pirate game is to justify being massive assholes because the characters ingame are massive assholes so I hope that’s not what you’re doing!
