Good in what way? Specifically, what are you looking for?
No, as of now, just no, maybe when second magic comes out then maybe
While there’s always magics that are better than others, what those magics are change every update. Don’t try choosing your magic based on some meta because it’s very inconsistent.
…So anyway, currently ash isn’t very good mainly because it can’t use other magics for combos.
Coming from an experienced ash user, it’s pretty cool. I like the concept of being able to obstruct your enemy’s vision, but it’s simply just not that effective. The stats aren’t great and the clouds don’t do a lot of damage.
Fun magic, not great for PvP. Just pick what you think looks cool and combos well with your other magics.
no
its really bad
Not many people who I know PvP besides Mytholy use Ash so it’s not easy to tell, generally people consider it to be bad, so I wouldn’t say that it’s meta in any respect. HOWEVER, with the new size changes I might put Ash in the category of “likely-to-be-viable” rather than “definite trash,” but certainly not exceptional.
Ash has terrible clash wins, but tends to not lose by much, so I’d say that it has bad clashing but not terrible. It has low damage, below average speed, and bad destruction, and isn’t the best at clearing effects. The only areas Ash really does good in are size and interactivity with petrification, although we don’t know how good petrification is gonna be yet with how easy it is to break out of, it’ll come down to an in-practice analysis. Ash’s size will make it pretty efficient at synergizing and producing large clouds however.
So the answer is: we don’t know, but it isn’t looking too good, large clouds and strong petrification are its greatest hopes.
Damage: Pretty much every magic that does around the same damage as Ash has either a DoT, speed, or both. Ash doesn’t have this.
Interactivity: Explosion can apply petrify and is more sizeable and actually does damage and clashes.
Hazards:
I’ll go as far as to say that Ash’s clouds are objectively the best hazard. Easy to produce? Check. Sizeable? Hard check. Damaging? They all deal the same. Able to destroy? Nope. Perhaps for this reason Ash might become better in the future when magic size is much larger.
Archetype similarities:
Poison and Ash actually aren’t drastically far apart, Poison’s long-lasting DoT and terrible base damage means you can do around the same with Ash. Ash clouds also can’t be ignited or blown away. However, Poison’s DoT is something I feel still makes it a lot more useful, because even though you can total for around the same damage, this is assuming both players hit each other consistently. Poison can play a stronger hit-and-run playstyle. So I honestly think though they may have benefits over each other, Poison might be more flexible than Ash. Ash only hard-wins against Poison in matchups like Fire, Plasma, or Wind.
Unique Features:
Explosion can petrify, but Ash can petrify people within clouds, so as long as Ash isn’t completely unviable once 2nd magic hits, it’ll probably be a better alternative to Explosion in terms of petrification.
Bro ash is a meta magic after the size changes, it’s not used much though I can quickly level up a file and show it in practice
… teach me the Ash ways (there are like 2 other users I know)
the main strategy with Ash I usually use is to abuse the cloud as much as possible, that’s to say spam blasts in close-quarters as much as possible for optimal C L O U D.
that and using it to block peoples’ vision sometimes
