Is Balance Team REALLY the problem?

They should NOT try to solve everything because they end up not solving anything. Mf misinterpreted my solution, they should limit it to one page so that they can actually think which of the balance issues are the most important to deal with, not try to make a panacea every update.

Maybe just make community-made balance list, then discuss it with testers and balancers with all reasons given? In this case people atleast will hate themselves instead of just some group of people.

just let the community decide on balance issues like have it in a newsletter ingame or something, rn its like a 1% of people situation because most people cant be bothered to join a discord server for balancing a roblox game

Balance driven primarily by the community would drive the game’s balance to the ground way faster than how the team currently operates, because the community does not always knew what they actually want. However, that doesnt mean that the community perspective isn’t valuable, because it does inform the balance team on some balance decisions.

We are working on making a balance design/philosophy document to help properly guide our balance decisions and process in order to have something that us as a balance team and the community can hold us accountable for.

ok but to be honest a one page limit would actually probably be really good for AO. The current doc is like 7 pages long

has the team considered limiting the document to one page? i feel like you guys need to reconcile with vetex if that much discord is sown

you don’t seriously need every single change in the game at once right? just fill out that page with the fundamental/foundational issues and work on a prayer from there. minute stat changes are annoying as a developer, save the fine-tuning

This is not feasible at all because there are a lot of balance issues in the game that only 10-15 simple balance changes PER PATCH wouldn’t address thoroughly. Plus, some changes and balance bugs require thorough explanations so that vetex can properly address them and know why they are issues, which takes up more doc space (and thus less balance changes).

The doc page complaints are also a reason why we are going to move to a Balance Trello for future balancing. This prevents the issue of pages and allows us to optimize the priority system and make the structure of balancing overall less linear for vetex in the way its delivered.
