Is being a criminal better than a hero?

questioning if i should become a criminal on one of my files.

Look, there aren’t that many differences, but they’re here. For becoming a criminal, you get:

  • Access to private storages
  • A limitless supply of high-quality Grand Navy brigs for your fleet
  • Free cargo for Dark Sea expeditions, if you ever need that, for some reason. The innate supplies are enough as is, and nobody’s venturing out there these days but me anyway
  • A much cooler faction to buy stuff from. Seriously, Knights Proxy is the second worst joinable faction in the game
  • No renown shield, if that was a problem to you, for some reason. It never bothered me, but whatever

But, there are drawbacks:

  • Gravy is a constant annoyance
  • If you have PvP on, everyone’s out to gank you
  • Less cooler name colour in chat unless you equip a title that changes it
  • NPCs in towns don’t like you

In short, yeah, there are more advantages to being a criminal. I have my moral stance against being one, but not everybody’s bound by that. Just don’t commit too much to the bit. Rescuing castaways and sparing Elius should be done regardless of what your renown is

Oh so you don’t mind killing grand navy salarymen desperately trying to make a living but you draw the line at an agent of an evil secret organization who participated in a murder and abduction and also attempted to kill you?

Its easier to gain money as a criminal imo, although be aware of the navy and renown star. but you can always remove this tho.

sparing elius is stupid because you end up sparing maria in the future without even bothering to arrest her or anything that still pisses me off

I said I don’t want to kill those either. The points I made in favour of being a criminal are for those who care much less about the NPCs than I do. And sparing Elius for those people is still a benefit in the form of better spirit energy colours

Is fine. I just didn’t expect others to provide such wrong answers, when the real thing is this obvious.

Forsaken may be the worst design-wise, and, if it was ever removed, nobody would notice. But, I am not judging the factions by that
