Island Brainstorming (Day 2 In Progress)

Hello class, I am making an island called Misty Docks which is a port town that uses hydro power (extracting the magic in the sea to concentrate it through arcanium) to provide power to the town artificially. As the name suggests, this town will be a rocky and misty island that is relatively small to medium in size. Habitants live in sort of hobbit-like houses in the side of cliffs.

I need ideas for what I should put in it!
Examples like: NPCs, structures, layout, backstory, and anything else you can think of that won’t be hard to fit into the lore.

Proposed Ideas:

Gale potion depository
Hot Springs (Might be possible with the properties of magically charged arcanium)
Flooded Mines, an area underneath the Maw that is used to harvest a variation of Arcane Salt and arcanium
Polluted Water Magic infused muskets

Chief Cliffe, a water warlock who uses a modified version of sailor’s fist that uses heavily polluted toxic seawater as opposed to the normal type. This augmentation gave him permanent effects such as purple veins and his water magic turning a slight shade of purple/red

Lore/Backstory

Chief Cliffe was the original founder of the Stratus Waterway. After stumbling upon it he decided to settle down after a long life of sailing and plundering kingdom ships. After a few years other settlers wandered upon the island, all deserters who were scientists of various warring kingdoms. Feeling unwanted and unappreciated by their kingdoms because they were too focused on battle, the scientists decided to stay at Stratus Waterway to continue their studies due to the island’s closeness to the dark sea which gave it increased magic pollution in the waters; this became the main subject of their studies.
They became one of the few islands in the War Seas to have a rudimentary electricity system by sourcing arcanium, hydro power, and magic pollution to create a constant whirlpool, irrigation systems, wired lighting, and automated pulley and lever systems which make them a good weapons manufacturer. Their infrastructure is mainly isolated, they rarely take visits from outside kingdoms but will gladly take deserters as long as they promise to help further their studies. They export weaponry to nearby small islands and lone sailors.

Chief Cliffe, oddly enough, is the only mage on the island (lore explanation? Who knows!). After a kingdom siege on the island for their valuable research (because the kingdoms just wanted to take their work and not do it themselves), the Chief was nearly drowned in the water channel in the whirlpool but due to his sheer strength and will to throw a middle finger to every kingdom, he drank shit tons of the magic polluted water and unlocked a new form of Sailors fist that caused corroding to others and insanity to the user (yes he is now slowly dying) but his mentality is keeping him alive.

Will add more as more comes

We also have rudimentary electricity, do with that what you will

small little gale potion dispensary that drops gales into the sea for a small whirlpool to suck in water for the plant

Gatling gun to defend themselves from whatever tries to attack them

a small heat spring in the middle that lets you glide up to some COLD sky islands above

The fact they live inside of cliffs and seem to have pretty advanced tech, you’d be foolish to not make them all dwarves

Perhaps

:face_holding_back_tears: cant wait for there to be a secret place inside of it that makes devourers labeling their entire production method

Actually there is one that labels how they are made inside one of the nimbus sea islands

A port town built into rocky cliffsides? I love that sort of thing.

(Funny lil tidbit, this photo was taken in Greece).

Does the town and port themselves operate from cliffsides or is that just where the people live?

the town is mainly cliffside but there is some flat lands where there are rudimentary hydro powered factories and shops

updated with a new WIP location

Cave doooooooooooooock!

How about a legend about a cyclops and a location connected to it?
The island was before inhabited by a horrific giant, a one-eyed monster that ate all humans who came to the island. However, after a while, a powerful pirate captain heard of the monster and decided to challenge it. The battle was fierce, but the pirate captain was almost driven to an enormous hot spring where the monster planned to cook it and eat it.
However, the captain managed to swiftly go through his legs and struck the giant’s heels. This cause the giant to lose his balance and fall himself into the deep gorge where he had devoured so many people. The pirate captain took that as an omen and made it a hideout for himself and his crew.
Since then, the hideout turned into a port town as more and more people arrived. The captain abandoned his old life and dropped most of his treasure in the same gorge. A tale says that the bones of the cyclops still lay in the depths, covered by treasure.

Finished Day 1, let me know what u guys think and leave suggestions, ima head out to watch inside out 2 and then get a milkshake. Ill read this when I get home (if there are any comments)

so uh, an issue with the water wheel by the market: By the looks of it, it’s a channel through the island connected to the sea.

The problem with this is that there’s most likely no current causing the wheel to move, as water in these sorts of channels usually don’t move (it’s like trying to get hydroelectric power off the english channel with the wheel off the shore)

A cool town plaza with tile murals depicting all 20(?) base magics currently ingame arranged in a giant circle, with maybe like an ancient magic in the center that’s famous for protecting this island or something.

In the game tide and gale potions would constantly push the water wheel, creating a constant flow

Hmm maybe

hidden destructable wall covering a cliffside cave with an abandoned keraxe camp, with the corpse of a giant embedded into the middle of the cave in a sort of stalagmite (secret real)

well that certainly isn’t very efficient, not to mention that tide potions would just send tidal waves that’d probably destroy it, and gale potions would just be a whirlpool

I would have a port town, but then also a sorta cave somewhere that water constantly spews out of into the sea, like the river Nile
