Before we proceed, I’d like to show you this clip of me trying to siege a Strong Clan’s full-built Whispering Cavern. Once I get in, please try to pay attention to the mortar spam.
Ok the notable issues are:
During the first minute of the clip (and my 5 minutes of vain prior trying to bring the walls down), one major issue is the presence of an invisible barrier around the island. There was no indicator, no nothing to tell me where the barrier starts and where it ends. That raised the problem of me frequently bumping into the barrier, slowing down my ship’s momentum or just outright stopping it, leading to the possibility of eating volleys of silver mortars (that I couldn’t clip, but it happened earlier).
Idk if it’s in the video, but the island’s manmade structures UNLOAD even if you’re just a tad bit far away from the island. Idk if that caused any issue during the siege but I blame my waste of cannonballs on it, the walls seem unbreakable.
While not presented, I’d like to mention the possibility that you can straight up TP dash through the walls. Thanks warmwater
The mortar spam and cannon stacking is downright illegal. There’s no limit to it, no spacing requirement. One can just put them down side-by-side, and they’d shred any unfortunate soul that gets into their view. I didn’t even consider sieging the island in the first place; I just happened to get in range, and my brig lost a quarter of its health (that’s when it got personal).
I get that island contesting is more of a feature that requires multiple participants, but in reality it just make the whole thing really annoying. Basically the whole thing says “Screw you, idc if you’re clanless or friendly, this whole area is off limit. Come back with an armanda and then we’re talking.”
Edit: unlisted the video, sorry I went overboard with the shit talking. Vetex is my god and idol please cook more
Nah your stuff is fully valid- for one i believe people can put 40? or so mortars down, also treasure charts still lead there if you got them early enough (aka before a claim) and they can apparently respawn on the island while you… respawn at the world border.
…
Because without bed, the seizing would clearly be too easy.
(You can sink a ship to end the respawning. That issue literally does not exist if one prioritises targets when defending an island.)
If sieges were more doable without flooding the server I’d accept it for what it is rn. It’s rather inconvenient that if a strong clan claims an island (most of the time islands that aren’t limited to only personal save slot) a part of the map becomes inaccessible to everyone but the aforementioned clan members.
I don’t usually go out of my way to gank someone or contesting island but when my brig lost one third of its hp just by being near claimed territory, there ought to be outbursts.
You don’t even need TP dashes for this, I could do it just fine with Plasma Burst
About the mortar spam, my friend and I were trying to explore the new islands, only to find most of them were claimed and his brig was bombarded quite a few times (he’s clan less by the way)
Why the hell are people just doing their own thing having to suffer… Vetex!!
Thankfully the clan bases we visited didn’t have mortars as insane as the ones in the video, good god
vetex should make the invisible barriers somewhat visible when u get close to them
constnatly getting blocked by my own barriers against aoe users was not fun
this happens way too easily
you can quite literally dash into a barrier as you would normally and clip completely through it
with how prevalent this is, testers needs to actually fucking test the game because they sure as hell weren’t if this was allowed to slide
it’s a good thing that goso junle and darkpine isles lost their claimable status, else the freshies are going to be so confused as to why their innocent rowboat is suddenly top tier threat in the eyes of them fortresses
