I’ve been itching to make this post for a while, so here it goes.
Ignoring users is generally a good feature when one doesn’t want to deal with people they find toxic or annoying, but I’ve often had issues due to a couple flaws.
- Let us read topics made by ignored users.
Some people I personally blocked, I blocked over arguments on certain topics, but am otherwise ok with, or at least interested in reading a topic they make. To do so, however, the user needs to go all the way to their profile, set them back to normal, then return to their profile after they’re done reading the topic and set them to ignored again, as well as choose the time frame.
This doesn’t make much sense, personally, as we can already read ignored people’s posts under any topic by just clicking on a button to show hidden posts. I think it’d be generally a good idea if something similar was made for the topic itself, a.k.a. the first post of a thread, so that the whole process of unignoring and re-ignoring can be skipped. - Hidden posts shouldn’t count to unread topics.
Another thing that annoys me a lot is the fact that, if the last post in a thread is hidden, that thread will constantly be marked as unread until the post is shown. Thus, if an argument breaks out in an otherwise calm topic and the user doesn’t want their unread posts to be clogged, they have to read through potentially toxic posts just to move it out of the way.
I can’t say much for this other than to ask for it to be fixed so that reading the most recent non-hidden reply in a topic is enough for it to no longer count as unread.
