I imagine he doesn’t like being called a “dark wizard.” From his perspective, he’s fighting against a world that failed/betrayed him – something like that. He definitely has trust issues. I haven’t really fleshed him out, but I imagine that by heart, he thinks that what he’s doing is the right thing to do.
