Please buff the Ravenna Deserters!!
Why?
Here’s a quick reminder of their benefits: 300! Defense and 5%! Resilience
Here’s another reminder of the Sailor’s benefits: 10% Resilience and 300 Ram Defense
See the problem?
There’s absolutely zero reason to ever use the Ravenna Deserters unless you’re trying to get a numerically larger health pool, because the Ram Defense from the Sailors is an effective 300 HP gain every time you ram.
Even for Ketches, the 5% additional resilience is (usually) more effective than 300 additional HP.
Remember the Brig?
Yeah, that’s coming too, and will make the Ravenna Deserters even less useful.
These mfers desert the Ravennan military just to give 300 HP and less resilience than some random guys from Sailor’s Lodge???
What to buff?
The obvious number is the Defense - with the Brig, the Ravenna Deserters will give a whopping 2.5% more HP - BEFORE Hull Armor and Hard Enchants, and if you consider what esoteric enchantments the Dark Sea may give, the Deserters will be a drop in the HP bucket.
I propose the Deserters give at LEAST 1,500 Defense and 5 Speed, replacing the Resilience (they should be good at running away).
Honestly, even with this buff I’d probably still run the Sailors or the Redwake Crew if the stability is necessary, but it would be more than what they are now.
How else can I convince you?
The Deserters look cooler.
