I have a head canon where Merlot is basically flirting with Kai (attention seeker).
But Kai is straight like a clean-bleached floor and Kai really doesn’t like what Merlot is doing

I’d argue Merlot wins, since all we know about Kai is that he likely has up to the default Katana ultimate art. You’d think a Commodore would use more than just a heavier sword, but that’s all he uses. Merlot on the other hand uses both a dagger and claws in addition to Poison Magic, which is like sand; it’s coarse, rough, irritating, and most importantly, it gets everywhere.
Anyway the art is pretty cool.
