The menu for selecting cannonballs is small and awkward. The action of scrolling for and clicking each option takes away from aiming and using cannons. This is an issue because ship combat is fairly quick and you need to switch cannonball types depending how far or close you are to another ship. This can get even worse when you’re fighting multiple enemies and the menu is just too slow to navigate.
Imagine trying to play savant, but you have to use your mouse to click and switch your moves instead of aiming at your opponent.
On top of that, the gui to select cannonballs completely disappears and is unable to be used whenever your renown changes (Which is whenever you attack a ship).
Implementing keys to cycle cannonballs would make ship combat smoother and more accessible.
This can be implemented in multiple ways:
Two keys (Z to cycle up and X to cycle down) This would be the easiest to implement and
simple to use.
Select cannonballs with number keys (1 for light, 2 for medium, ect.)
This would be the easiest and most precise to use, however this would be hard to implement and it would only work for 10 cannonballs (assuming more ammo types or different ship abilities wouldn’t be added later).
A radial that could be opened up with Q. This could also be used for Fighting Styles and weapons that use ammo types (separate key obviously). I don’t like this because aiming with cannons is mouse-based and it would take away from firing.
i dont see a reason why this shouldnt be added into the game. however, i will like to point out that you should keep cannon fist users in mind (assuming people actually use this style). z and x are already move keybinds and number keys are obviously used in the hotbar
How about giving me the option to assign cannonballs to said keys? Now I have 10 cannonballs that I myself want to use and don’t feel like going through a list to find.
Oh wait I reread it and it kinda implies this, regardless of that, I don’t see myself needing more than 3-4 cannonball types unless it’s cannonfist.
I was talking about ship combat. I was gonna make a separate suggestion about a radial that could be used to quickly select ammo types for bows, guns, and cannon fist. I know those keys are in use for abilities, it’d have to take over a lesser used key like emotes (B) or imbues (H).
I was going to make a separate suggestion for assigning the order of cannonballs (or other ammo types). I didn’t want to put two different suggestions in one and clutter everything.
Nice idea, i really like the second way with the circle, would probably be 100 times better than having to scroll to chainshot and heavy exploding cannon balls every time.
how about when you get off the ship and get on back again the cannonball choice stays.

That might be more of an issue with how cannonballs are ordered, (Which they are completely unorganized and useful types get buried). I made another suggestion about it and attached it to this one.
