Considering the large amount of Curse Users by Ravenna, it’s actually quite a surprise that the King who has been with them since his teens does not have a Curse.
King Calvus uses Aether Lost Magic, one of Vetex’s favorites, to move around and explode us with huge burst as it’s the signature of all Aether moves (be it in Arcane Adventures through the Legendary Weapon, or even in Vetex’s Aether Lightning itself).
King Calvus awakening is actually something we’ve never seen in an instance of the arcane series, and looks very similar to phoenix based on the color palette (even if they’re not related at all). He also materializes an Aether Crown whenever he awakens.
Even with all that power, it’s very weird that he doesn’t have a Sea Curse considering out of everyone in his army, he should own one. He even has the Devourer, a sword specifically made for stealing curses!
I mean, maybe he does have the Aether curse, it’s just that we can hit him due to his rage. Think about it, imagine 2 of your best allies dying to one guy, who you see right infront of you. You would be incredibly angry, and probably unable to concentrate on kicking his ass, as Calvus would be unable to concentrate on dodging our melee/weapon attacks.
Tech confirmed he doesn’t have a curse. He’s a savant born with Light who got Aether Lost. He’s young for a King too and even with the Devourer sword, he finds no need to get a curse considering most of the ones he does get his hands on are weaker than himself.
He had insane potential, but we killed him hella shortly lmao
My guess is that he was trying to get the death curse to use for himself, because he’d obviously want one of the most powerful curses available to him (Not some useless one like the “cloud curse”)
It’s likely that the Glass curse Julius had is also fairly weak, considering the fact that Morden could take him on despite only having his curse for a few weeks.
Calvus was specifically waiting to get an extremely powerful curse. (The Death Curse in the story)
He’s a multi-talented fighter that’s better off using his Triasta, Iron Leg and Aether Magic than something like the Cloud Curse for instance.
As for his 2nd phase, he infuses a portion of his grandfather’s sea curse (Nero Caesar) into all of his attacks. This is a very novel concept for arcane lore since we haven’t seen canon descendents of Curse Users before.
