He deals 500 damage, and for the level your expected to fight him. unless some max level saviours help, I cant beat him. 1157 hp. 3 hits from this puts me on 100 hp. a gust of wind could kill me. so is it just me or does he need a nerf.

if you hit him 1-5 seconds after he starts, it’s less than 100 dmg per hit so like 120-150 if you block
Shoot while he’s charging (if you’re playing berserker just use your magic blast for calvus and any other boss honestly) and run away and dash just before he actually does the attack. This worked for me even with no agility, and it’s even more effective in his second phase
I did not expect to see a “maybe nerf Calvus?” topic to appear today, nearly a whole 9 months after AO released.
double tap a movement key or shift + movement key to dash
I should probably leave this as a tip, but if you have ANY ranged options (if you’re a Bers then Axe Slash would work, or shot if you’re close) then T jump/Air Step your way into the sky before using it. If the charge isn’t too high then you’ll be able to spam attacks while inside the pillar, but this mostly works best with magic classes or weapon classes with multiple ranged options.

just shoot him with a gun and dodge any direction the moment it hits him
also you get like an hour to interrupt him when he does the pillars, so it’s really not that bad.
the only unfair move is the second phase slam attack where the attack size is just way too high, but it only does like 200 damage so it isn’t too bad

you can always just level up to 120 and just get dodge reflexes. he’s even easier that way.
Always keep track of Calvus, the second you let him out of your sight your life is in danger.

people who complain about calvus are valid
people who complain about calvus’ 500 damage attack need to start attacking him
Some people are nice some others have to be nicer.
I was thinking just lower the damage, being a berserker.
King Calvus deals 500 damage because he’s the final boss of AO, also expect to die at least 30 times if you fight him as a Berserker without help because it’s the class with the most disadvantages early on in the game against bosses, unless you took your time preparing your gear and getting rare techniques.
Just use shot or axe-slash, don’t use any close-ranged skills except maybe smash/shockwave smash unless your daring.
If you had Thermo Fist it would be slightly easier since it’s m1s obliterate bosses.
And make use of guns, doesn’t matter if your not a Warrior you lack ranged skills anyway.
Just hit the man as he’s charging up the pillar. I get that the attack is punishing, but it’s really not too big of a deal if you can actually aim.
calvus is bad for many reasons but an “interrupt his attack and then dodge” move is the least bad part
I literally never encountered the 500 damage part until like some farming
it killed me a couple times then i realized the kind of attack it was
