As of current, the lava in The Vents of Aeolus does not directly damage the player; this is a weird design, as water in abandoned places deals the Water Corrosion status effect, and later the Infected status effect.
As my proposal, I believe it should apply the Melting status effect with high damage per tick, as it makes more sense than adding a status effect for something that, in theory, exists.
Showcase of me, *Eliott Judge* of the 2nd generation, relaxing in the nice pool of lava.
But why should this be added when there's so little lava?
It’s to reinforce consistency within the world. If old abandoned water causes a status effect, the hot, melting lava should too.
Why shouldn't a new status effect be made?
This is because they are the same; magma, which causes the melting status effect, is merely lava but still below the Earth’s surface, making it identical.
Both Dark sea volcanic islands and underwater structure lava deals heavy damage, around 50% of your maximum health and melting, and I’m willing to bet underwater volcanos and Dark sea volcanos do the same
Anyways it could maybe also apply burning after melting is done
This would be cool because then you could use Volcanic Physicks to stay in lava for longer which could add cool interactions with later islands where you might have to use a physick in order to swim through lava to get somewhere for example
