I know Vetex has a lot of ships planned, and there’s no suggesting new ship ideas, so this isn’t what you think it is.
So as of now, you can gain every single type of ship by just buying it from a shipwright. However, I think in the future it might be cool to have some ships be unlocked by finding a blueprint of the ship first (the same way you get things like ship parts and scrolls) and then having them unlocked at a shipwright that way.
For Example: You open up a Dark dark-sealed chest and you find a blueprint for a rare ship. After using the ship blueprint, you can now purchase the type of ship you found at the Shipwright.

but i would not like to pray to RNG to get the ship blueprint I want (yes IK trading exist)
mabey it could be on a “rotation” so you will see say ship A, then ship C then ship D and then ship B and ship E (then all ships are “back on the table” for you to get)
i like the idea, and while the ships vetex has in mind would be accessible by just buying at a shipwright, the rare ones could be ships with specific gimmicks tho make them more “spicy”

I was also thinking about the subtypes that Vetex had listed in the Trello, so I thought having a need to unlock these subtypes might be interesting and lead to more gameplay elements other than making it super duper expensive.
Maybe there are certain questlines to unlock a certain type of ship? Maybe those “cargo delivery” missions with a special twist can lead you on your way to unlock special things for your ship. Might be neat.
