people really can’t make up their mind on this.
I’m probably a huge outlier in the religion because I frankly don’t trust a book that’s been in human hands for over 2000 years and translated multiple times to not be tampered with to suit some old king’s plans… alot of old kings’ plans.
I trust what I’ve seen and experienced first hand and the stories passed down in my family for generations.
That is what gives me faith.
Yeah, I can’t believe Weird Al is in Touhou 20.
Okay, unfortunately Weird Al ain’t in it, but AI was used for the backgrounds. It’s a whole fuckfest, you could check Bluesky to look into it.
How bad are we talkin’? Is it “might be over exaggerated” levels of bad, or is it “FanFiction dot net Posts Over the Integer Limit on the Word Count” levels of bad?
y’know my take on Christianity from a helpol perspective is that everyone takes everything far too literally. the bible is obviously mythology. anyone with 3 braincells could see that. which is why i find it bizarre how ppl believe it as fact 100%. it’d be like me saying that winter happens bcuz demeter is mourning persephone rn and that the sun is being carried on a chariot. it’s just nonsense lol. myths are not to be taken literally they are literally moral lessons and stories about the world/very loose history books as well (cuz troy was a real place where a war of some sort did take place). myths are allegories like zeus is extremely horny in the myths because that’s what the ancient view of kings was. men allowed to do anything and have 50 wives and women and whatever. persephone and demeter? young daughter ripped from their mothers and arranged marriages. etc etc
i think it’s weird how those ppl bully helpols such as myself by saying “your gods are deviant scum!!! bcuz of the myths!!” and they think the myths are like a bible which is just nonsense. taking myths literally in any religion just does not work whatsoever and idk why it’s done in christianity at all it just doesn’t work.
fr same i believe what i see and what i feel. you don’t need a book saying it happened you just need to believe it’s real and that’s all. ik it’s real personally cuz i feel it I’ve experienced it and a lot more and that’s all. plus trust me when you stop seeing myths literally it makes your faith STRONGER cuz legit believing in myths of any kind is like believing harry potter is real lolz it’s just forcing yourself to believe in fantasy that didn’t happen OR brainwash yourself to psychosis (which i have personally seen and it’s extremely scary how some ppl act)

literally most of wattpad is little kids writing smut so badly it makes you wanna shoot yourself. you write on wattpad when you’re 12 and when you get good at writing or grow up you move to ao3. i’d know cuz i’d just write utter slop when i started out on wattpad and eventually i realized it was shit and dipped and ran to ao3 and never looked back
tho tbh i haven’t written much since 2023 and have mostly quit the fanfiction communities
alot of said stories specifically pass from my grandmother and her surviving fatal incidents over and over again through what can only be described as medical miracles.
had a heart attack, ignored it for a week, she goes to the doctor, and learns her heart preformed a bypass on itself somehow.
had what was believed to be terminal cancer, everybody went to the hospital to say their goodbyes, tears are shed, next day she’s cured like it was never there. (it never came back)
most saintly person I’ve ever known and probably ever will know in my life, so that’s gotta tell me something.

I’ve heard stories of a lot of miracles like these happening too, especially from my family’s side lol
cool to know that these kind of happenings are everywhere
damn that’s amazing lol my experiences are lwk lame compared to that
i had one recently tho. so for months i was telling lord hermes how excited i was to celebrate beltane
i talked to him about it sm and then i got depressed in April and i COMPLETELY forgot like i stopped looking at the calendar and when beltane rolled around i had no idea. HOWEVER on that day FOR SOME REASON my mom decided my entire family needed to go to this farm we own which we visit like once a year. and guess what? on that day it was beltane. and i had told hermes how much i wanted to like go outside for beltane and run around in grass and shiz and now my mom is taking me to our shitty almost abandoned farm that we won’t visit probs till next year. and on the way there I SHIT YOU NOOOT i saw a caduceus and i took a pic of it and i just felt that it was a sign from lord hermes and i was like “neato” and i STILL didn’t realize it was beltane and i had a pretty fun day outside and spent time with my family and then when i got home i just had these shivers down my spine and i realized that it was beltane and that i had forgotten and that hermes had literally made sure i celebrated in some way despite forgetting
i felt so happy and thankful cuz my dumbass forgot but i still got to celebrate in some way. it was just a very nice experience

this may be stepping into dangerous territory, but one belief I’ve seen some Christians throw around is that a lot of the world’s mythologies are, to a degree, real, and the ‘gods’ within are a mix of fallen angels, actual angels, and some straight demons.
its definitely something worth thinking about, too many stories from across the world overlap in ways that simply can’t just be coincidence far far too many times. Something has to be tying them all together.
(like everywhere in the entire world has a flood story as a major event SOMEWHERE)
(every major religion across the world that I know of has some concept of a human/god hybrid)
hold up, that not the idea tho, this whole thing misses Christian view of the world, justice, sin, relationship, Jesus, everything, sure people can talk with no knowledge but there is literally no description of hell or what happens after other than the core idea
as far as i read ur whole idea is based on a work based salvation which misses the whole point of Christianity, u also assume the idea of hell is to cause fear but u have no reason to believe that in Christianity, hell isnt spoken a lot and even then when it is, is to convey a specific meaning bc Christianity isnt a religion of fear, that a strawman
The unfortunate truth is that alot of people have turned it into a religion of fear.
Look through youtube videos or anywhere online and it won’t take long before you find somebody preaching fire and brimstone out of nowhere.
It’s everywhere and it makes people view us in a downright horrible light.
there is a problem with this, ur confusing christians (pople that follow Christianity) with Christianity (the religion), if u want to know what Christianity says, then u should read the bible or books that look deeper into it to know what it says rather than to take ur theology or view from random christian youtuber
that has nothing to do with anything I said, and you must not be paying much attention to the conversation.
u said that people turned it into a religion of fear and that some youtubers preach about hell
i said that if u actually want to know what Christianity says then u should look at the source and/or books that look deeper into it (theology books i just remembered the name)
I didn’t say youtubers, I said people everywhere, but very prominently on youtube.
If I was introduced to Christianity by some guy screeching about how I was going to go to hell (as many people are nowadays, thanks to the problem people in question), I would be an atheist.

k sure, i missread that but my point still stands that if u want to know what something says that u should read it or read books about it, no offense but taking ur conclusion without doing any research bc some people screech about stuff isnt very smart
ok, you may find this difficult to understand, but if people are introduced to a religion by what, to them, looks like a fanatic cultist ranting and raving on about how you’re going to suffer forever, I don’t think they’re going to be very interested in looking into it.
a much more likely reaction would be “wow that guy’s crazy” and then never think about it again.

i mean i was an atheist for a very long time, one of the reasons was bc i found Christianity to be anti science bc the loud ones were anti science and honestly that was extremely dumb for me bc i had the chance to look into it and i chose to be ignorant till i decided to look into it due to an event happening
that’s bcuz this was used as a tactic to convert ppl. christians said “your gods are not gods but demons leading you away from yaweh” or smth like that and they even smashed and defaced many ancient statues as they believed those “demons” lived in them which is actually an ancient greek belief where the gods and good spirits live in representations of them at least partially. also the word “demon” literally just means “spirit” or “god” in greek (“daimon”) and it didn’t have a negative connotation until it was “demonized”
if you’re talking about the similarities in European religions that’s bcuz all the European mythologies and religions split off from a main “indo European religion” over time. like the idea of the sun being pulled along by horses and the concept of a thunder god and stuff.
