I agree with this stance.
One thing I hear on the regular will get you thrown in hell is “the practice of magic”.
That begs a question, what the hell is magic?
If we’re talking about the definition of magic from when it was written, we’re all fucked because we’re using phones and computers and those would definitely be called magic.
I’m talking across the entire planet.
eastern, western, northern, and southern.
The Norse, the Greek, the Japanese, the Chinese, the Aztecs, and so so many more that I cannot recall the names of off the top of my head.
i’m just gonna be blunt i don’t really care i don’t really know anything about it. i just say what I’ve seen personally and what I’ve seen hundreds of other ppl say in my time. if that’s wrong then okay but idc i don’t think about Christianity and i frankly don’t want to. i can’t even look at it bcuz of how much trauma i got from it and i can’t help that. no hate to any Christians i don’t mean any disrespect i just don’t exactly bother with it cuz ngl i forget it exists most of the time
At one point lightning was magic, at another it was fire, electricity was arcane until a few centuries ago, the seasons themselves were considered mystic, you get my idea here?
but they were never magic so it doesn’t matter if they were “considered” magic bcuz they’re just normal forces of nature or human engineering or whatever else. if it can be explained it’s not magic… i think
Then that begs another question, lets go off the deep end for a second and say our bodies channel an energy that we, at some point, learn to concentrate and start tossing fireballs at each other and start manipulating intangible forces like time and probability.
While then it would be a 100% understood science, to us right now it would be magic.
nah its just a kickass test of skill and reactiontime, it’s not enjoying that you’re hurting someone [in my case as someone that previously fenced], but the fact that you’re using cool ass swords and doing something as cool as a duel where you have to be better than your opponent
On this note: It depends on your intent.
If you are fighting for the purpose to maim and wound your opponent for the fun of it, yes, absolutely!
If you are fighting for the purpose of competition as a display of skill, no.
If you are fighting to kill because that’s what is required of you, no, but it could become yes.
Seeing someone get a really good hit (especially if it’s when a fighter you’re rooting for lands it) and the other guy spits out a little blood is cool to watch
that just wrong, people dont go to hell bc they use magic, christians didnt even believe that people can do magic (witches or wizards as we know them)
“Nobody shall dare to kill an aldia or a slave of others as if she were a witch, which they call masca [witch], because for Christian minds it is in no way credible, nor possible” -lombard code of king rothari, italy, 643 ad
“The average inhabitant of Europe in the sixteenth and seventeenth
centuries probably never saw a witch trial. The chances of the average
woman finding herself formerly charged with witchcraft —and so facing
execution—were minute.” -the new atheism. myth and history page 29
also it is clear that they were reffering to getting help or trying to get help from fallen angels to chaos evil or pain
I’m not telling you what I believe right now, I already did that earlier, I’m telling you how people are being introduced to it right now and the beliefs being shoved down their throats when they never asked.
