At this point not even vetex himself knows what the lore is
welcome to arcane odyssey
Magic trumps all, that is the one thing vetex hammers in the lore and is unqurstionable. So there’s no way the strongest man in history wouldn’t be a mage
???
I have zero clue what you’re tweaking on about, Arthur was the strongest mage in his time period
oh wait fr? Im blind then
Dude are even the gods dead anymore … Like whats stopping us speaking to zesus next.. Alsoin curious how the convo will work..
They are dead, we basically speak to their ghost. Dunno if we’ll speak to Zeus but we’ll probably ask him about the child support
The main problem is finding them. Psure we theoretically can talk to every titan, excluding Hecate
Wait, i just realised that we don’t know anything about the titans. In greek mythology they were imprisoned in tartarus. If that’s the case then hades oversees them and knowing that the peacekeeper wants to kill hades then they’ll be probably released
it’s either that but I’m more leaning on them being dead. If there was a war between mankind and the Gods, certainly was one between the Gods and the Titans.
Also Mount Othrys is intact but empty bar Poseidon. They’re probably long gone
Imo i dont like how we can meet every god and they just can dump lore on us… I like it when we didnt know anything about them… The only one i liked was posideon since it came naturally and some sort of a reward for finishing the entire bronze sea story.
I doubt we’ll talk to literally every god. Hecate isn’t really a lore dump, and we already know from external sources that she split herself into the shards. Athena is a reward AFTER collecting all the pages / Wisdom, and I think that deserves some exposition on it’s own.
Yea that sounds more exciting heh
Mount orthys is empty now tho
On offtopic note, i want to remind you that “titans and gods” in Greek Mythology is basicly different generations of same things.
All Olympian Gods are Titans, but not all Titans are Olympian Gods.
It is true that the naming of “god” and “titan” is a generational thing, but it would be wrong to say that a titan is a god and vice versa. You’ll never find a scripture referring to Zeus as titan
Titans are gods; it’s a classification. Although, with this set in stone, Prometheus is a God, but we always call him a Titan because it just doesn’t sound right.
and please don’t further this kinda topic, I don’t like the person who made essays about this last time
You’re right that Yummers’ statement about all Olympians being Titans is mistaken since, to my understanding, the title of Titan refers only to the generation of ruling gods before the Olympians. Forgive me if I assume wrong, but I think they’re saying that cause the Olympians are the children of Titans? But that’s like saying all Gen Z kids are also Gen X since the latter are the children of the former, which isn’t true.
That said Yummers is indeed right that BOTH generations, Olympians and Titans (and Primordials too), are gods. Going off my example earlier, gods is more akin to the species and titles like Olympian/Titan are akin to the generational name we give to people, i.e. Boomers, Gen Z, etc.
To back this up I was able to find a reddit post on this very topic. The post cites multiple prominent ancient Greek authors & poets who we have to thank for our understanding of Greek cosmology/myth that have referred to the Titans as gods:
Hesiod, Theogony 453 (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C8th or C7th B.C.) :
but to [Kronos] the mightily ruling son of Ouranos (Sky), the earlier king of the gods, she(Rhea) gave a great stone wrapped in swaddling clothes.
Both Phoebe and Coeus (Titans) are called gods:
Hesiod, Theogony 404 ff :
"Again, Phoibe (Phoebe) came to the desired embrace of Koios (Coeus). Then the goddess through the love of the god conceived and brought forth dark-gowned Leto
In the Iliad, the Titans are the gods who live in Tartarus:
Homer, Iliad 14. 231 ff (trans. Lattimore) (Greek epic C8th B.C.) :
So she spoke, and Hypnos was pleased and spoke to her in answer : ‘Come then! Swear it to me on Styx’ ineluctable water. With one hand take hold of the prospering earth, with the other take hold of the shining salt sea, so that all the undergods who gather about Kronos (Cronus) may be witnesses to us. Swear that you will give me one of the younger Kharites, Pasithea, the one whom all my days I have longed for.’
He spoke, nor failed to persuade the goddess Hera of the white arms, and she swore as he commanded, and called by their names on all those gods who live beneath Tartaros (the Pit), and who are called Titanes (Titans).
Though this guy didn’t help write Greek myths, he traveled Greece in the second century with an interest in its religion and mythology
Pausanias, Description of Greece 8. 37. 1 (Manuscripts of Pausanias’ travels through Greece documenting myths, C2nd A.D.) :
"The first to introduce Titanes (Titans) into poetry was Homer, representing them as gods down in what is called Tartaros; the lines are in the passage about Hera’s oath.
So I mean unless we want to argue with the actual people who helped write our knowledge of Greek myth during the literal days of ancient Greece, Titans are gods. We just refer to the Olympians primarily as gods primarily they were the current ruling class of gods.
Too bad I’ve been writing this essay long before you posted this and I’ll be damned if I discard it . Don’t worry though I won’t get heated over it like she did, probably won’t make anymore posts on it anyway cause if somebody disagrees with Hesiod or Homer in terms of Greek myth then there’s no convincing them lol
in a nutshell
all titans are gods
all olympians are gods
this does not mean all titans are olympians, i believe that would be a formal fallacy
i forgot about lesser gods while i was writing so i also threw this in
All titans are gods
All Olympians are gods
All primordials are gods
All lesser gods are gods
Some gods are titans
Some gods are Olympians
Some gods are primordials
Some gods are lesser gods
No titans are Olympians, lesser gods, or primordials
No Olympians are titans, lesser gods, or primordials
No primordials are titans, lesser gods, or Olympians
No lesser gods are Olympians, titans, or primordials
