Just based on the lore document of the Arcane Adventures universe, where do you think the story is going? I think there are three interesting things of note.
The Peacekeeper (Arcane Adventures Protagonist) and the AO protagonist wake up much in the same way- on a deserted island beach with no recollection of who they were or where they came from. The Peacekeeper was actually accidently revived by Durza’s necromantic magic when he was testing his influence in the first sea- they were only ashes by this point. Yet their ashes, floating in the sea for centuries, absorbed the magical radiation which explains why we can so easily grow stronger when lore wise it takes much more time for an average person to do so. The AO protagonist may share a similar origin, but one must keep in mind Durza has been dead a year before this point, and could not have possibly been involved in reviving them- yet dead revival arts are not exclusive to Durza. When the Peacekeeper confronts Hades, it’s revealed Hades was manipulating Durza to find out ‘how far the Dark arts could be pushed’ and therefore, there are likely other practitioners in the world.
Vetex confirmed that many lore elements and plot points are a direct consequence of the events at the end of AA’s storyline (The defeat of Durza and his final Fuck you nuke to the planet before he died). In the War Seas, the global tsunamis and earthquakes that followed durzas attack were known as “The Wrath of the Gods”.
The place where Mount Olympus was will be present in Arcane Odyssey. This heavily hints at the fact it will play a role in the story at some point. The blurb on the lore doc describes “saving the war seas from its greatest and most ancient threat”, which means we may see a return of an olmypian god/gods outside the big three.
So can you fathom a guess as to where the story may be going? Most of the Olympian gods should be dead already- as with Durza, so we know nothing of who the antagonist of this game will be.
Another small little tidbit to note: “Due to this cataclysmic event, Chaos was attracted to the earth and ravaged many of the remaining Seven Seas. Some islands had also gone completely missing, while others were left in ruin.” But it says nothing of his influence over the War Seas.
I still think its possible that the main threat will be the titans awakening and escaping from their prison in Tartarus, as it’s possible that Durzas explosion loosened their chains in some way.
Their also much more ancient and powerful then the gods, so it makes more sense then some other god who isn’t dead yet coming back
I don’t really have any substantial theories for the AO player’s origins; the only thing I’m leaning towards the most is that their amnesia and them being stranded is a result of (or related to) the Wrath of the Gods.
It’s only been one month; “The events of Arcane Odyssey take place exactly one month after Durza’s defeat in the Seven Seas, meaning the Peacekeeper has not yet started hunting Sea Curses.” I also don’t think there’s any dead revival shenanigans involved with the AO mc, that just seems like beating a dead horse (and reviving it to beat it again).
I personally have a small theory - most related to tech’s riddle - that the threat is the titans rather than the gods. In AO we also visit a mountain known as Mount Orthys, which in Greek mythology was the base of the Titans during their war with the gods. (You can see mount orthys mentioned on the Bronze Sea Explorer badge).
That might be something investigated in the game’s actual storyline, I guess we’ll see. Hey who knows, they ancient threat might involve chaos itself.
Yeah I’m not really sure anything is related between the AO players origins or not but ya’ never know. I do like the Titan theory a lot, and it would make sense, Durza basically shook the fishbowl they are sleeping in.
I think Iris is key to theorizing. She’s called an Abnormality but I don’t know HOW she is abnormal. That could push a lot more into the theorycraft.
I’m not really a theory guy but if anything i’d guess that we will be fighting a titan of some sort like kronos.
First of all we have This screenshot:
This probably confirms it, unless we are fighting chaos itself, I heavily doubt that we are fighting gods, after all, vetex himself said that we will go beyond the scale of the PK meaning we will probably fight something stronger, also Gods aren’t necessarily a “Threat” to any sea because they are dead, even if they are revived they wouldn’t be an “ancient” threat or anything since when the war seas were created, they were still dead. My guess is that the titans could have been terrorizing the War Seas in some way via their aura or something like that. Also titans came before the gods, making them more “ancient”. Something else interesting to note is that Tartarus also has a bunch of other evil shit besides the titans, so that could also be taken as a threat. Now i don’t know where tartarus would be located but considering that it is below hades, we could potentially end up meeting the PK, who is sailing south to be the shit out of hades
Wait Vetex confirmed the AO protagonist will be stronger then the Peacekeeper? I was curious on that front, wondering if AO would scale above AA in terms of overall power we are dealing with.
Generally it makes no sense to try to introduce a custom character in a future installment. That kind of ruins the ‘players perception’. Anytime you go back and play that game, you know that whatever character you want to make is ‘not the canon version’.
Generally a smart idea to keep player characters out of the current story in future installments- though mentions of them are fine, and usually encouraged by a fanbase. Sadly, the War Seas don’t even know the Seven Seas exist- and as such, don’t know the Peacekeeper exist. We won’t get any news about them anytime soon.
Yeah, one example of this (Even though this feels more like a retcon from Vetex then a revelation) is awakenings. In the seven seas, they are called minds, solely related to your magic. And in the war seas its ‘awakenings’. While we don’t know what exactly the lore is, clearly their understanding of the inner self is more advanced.
